Okay, we've had, or are currently having, to be more accurate, not exactly a crossover as much as guest appearances by Angel and Spike in Season 8. Would you expect to have the same thing happen in "Aftermath," and, if so, how would you resolve the time differences between the two series?

Assuming (we'll know for sure next August or September, since that is when #36 comes out) that Buffy doesn't know that Spike has returned as of yet in the Aftermath timeline, how would you reconcile their interaction there?

Well I'm pressuming that the same rules apply with Buffy characters crossing to IDW that applies to Angel characters crossing to DH i.e. only characters originating on Angel can show up in that comic. That rules out the entire Buffy cast.

Even if they did, Aftermath is still extremely questionable when it comes to canon. And when I say questionable I mean not even remotely canon.

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall the original statement being more like only the characters who had appeared on both shows could cross over, which would rule out Andrew, Giles, Xander, Satsu, or any of Buffy's other new Slayers being in Angel's comic, and Gunn, Fred/Illyria, Connor, Kate, or Nina showing up in Season 8 or 9.

Buffy, Willow, Faith, Cordy, Wes, Spike, Angel, and Oz could cross over if that is true.

I'm fairly sure it was originate but maybe someone else can clear that up for us?

Chris Ryall, Chief of IDW, says that there are no limitations on character usage. He said that IDW wouldn't do big stories centering around a BtVS character, but he can use them as he sees fit. He used the Loan Shark as the example, who only appeared in BtVS, never even mentioned in AtS, yet was a major player in AtF.

That said, I like Chris Ryall from what I've seen, but he lies through his teeth sometimes, and maintains to this day that Angel (#18+) is canon to the Buffyverse.

Personally, I think the only reason he can use any of the Buffyverse characters is because what IDW is doing with Angel is NOT canon.

It may be canon in the IDW-verse, but it can claim no such standing in the Buffyverse.
