my friend cries every time she sees that part of the ep. I find the bit where Buffy is telling Willow that Angel is leaving and she cries, much worse than the dancing!!

Watching 'The Prom' makes me cry every time I see it. I tend to start with the water works when she is telling Willow. Its when she says " I can't breath". thats it for me.
The dancing is sad, firstly, the song. It is so fitting for the emotions that Buffy & Angel are going through. Secondly, she knows that Angel is leaving and yet her is still there with her. When he says that it dosen't change anything, I start crying again. ::crying::

I gotta agree. I cry everytime. It's 'cos it's so romantic that Angel came to dance with Buffy 'cos he knew it was so important to her. It's the last time we see them together when they are lovers before he leaves for LA. After that it's all slaying and fighting.
But the heartbreak in Buffy's voice when she is telling Willow is so heartrending.

i blame joyce for it all
it took me tilllseason5 to forgive her for talking to angel about breaking up
i nearly broke my tv throwing things at her in that episode
and i just sob comtinuously after the will i cant breathe bit

I disagree with the dancing evoking tears. It's kind of a happy moment for them, cuz he actually showed up for her.
The crying scene is by far when she is talking to Willow. Now, I'm not a Bangel fan, but it even makes me sad because she is so upset and heartbroken. No girl should deal with that much pain.

LoL. Yeah Guy's get the heartbreak thing too, no differently I would imagine, other than we try not to cry on front of our friends. 😉
This ep gets me every time too. I just watched it again tonight, but what gets me is when they give her the award, it kind of speaks volumes. Here she is, laboring for 3 years in the most thankless job imaginable, and it turns out that it's not completely thankless; that people appreciate the difference she made.
Another thing that gets me is Buffy's resolve that everyone will have a normal Prom. I guess it's always self-sacrifice that touches me most in these episodes.

I don't know why exactly. It's just, you know, he was going to be leaving and all, so you really didn't expect him to show up at The Prom after the breakup. But when he does, first you're like 'awww!' and you get somewhat teary but a happy kinda teary. Then it kinda hits you, and you realize he is really leaving. Very sad. And then they have the song Wild Horses playing in the background, which makes it even more sad.

I cryed the bit where Angel was telling Buffy he couldnt be with her and where Buffy said to Will that she couldnt breathe and that she was trying to keep herself from dying ::crying2:: i liked the part where they was dancing it still made me cry though...i thought it was so sweet what he did knowing that the prom was a big deal for her so he came and danced with her... ::crying2:: still makes me cry
I cry through the whole episode. Usually I start when Angel picks up Buffy's notebook (right before Joyce comes over) and 'Buffy & Angel Forever' is written on it. And I loved how angel went to the prom because he knew it was important to Buffy.
