Buffy & Angel Viewing Question

Hi

I have been watching these two programs through the DVDs that are available as I did not see any of them when they originally aired. I have question concerning how to watch them.

I watched Buffy S.4 episodes interlaced with Angel S.1 Episodes just like they had originally aired, as I knew that some material spilled over from a Buffy Episode to an Angel Episode.

However, I wanted to know if I should continue this trend for the remaining years, or is it feasible to watch Buffy S.5 without watching Angel S.2 at the same time. Will it give anything away? Will there be moments that don't make sense b/c I didn't watch Angel at the same time?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I came late to the Buffyverse, so I can try to answer this for you!

It will be more satisfying to interlace, as you say, to recreate the original, but no, it is not necessary. There are crossovers, but the stories themselves are contained in the respective shows...you won't miss anything!
 
I think for the season finales you should. I think you should watch Buffy season five finale and then Angel season two finale. I think that would be the best choice.
 
I agree with Lethe. Even though it's not necessary to watch them in an interlaced way... It'll be more satisying, as there are little things that otherwise, you might miss. Also, looking back in retrospect, it makes it much easier to apply the stories to the same time line and figure one out as applied to the other if you watch them together.
 
I watched the Faith episodes in Angel 1 before I knew Faith from Buffy 3 or 4. That was a mistake. I missed a lot of the emotional punch. To be honest, I didn't know what the heck was going on.

You definitely wouldn't want to see Angel 4 Faith episodes until you had seen Angel 1, and Buffy 3 and 4, or even Buffy 7 up until that point. I still wonder what the knife attack in jail was all about.
