When I first watched Lessons, and saw in the last scene all the past big bads from past seasons, Buffy was the last one, so it gave me the wrong impression. I don't know, maybe that was the intention. My impression was that after 6 seasons of evil big bads and Buffy as a hero who fights those big bads, that it would be Buffy's turn to be the big bad. I thought how cool it would be to see Buffy as the big bad of the final season after being the good one for six years. I thought it would make an amazing season, because it would be very interesting to see not only Buffy as true evil who tries to destroy the world she once used to protect, but also the way it would happen.
Needless to say how disappointed I was that it was the First Evil, especially after he turned out to be quite lame.

Would you have liked to see Buffy as the big bad of the final season? Could that have improved the season?

You can also spaculate on what it would be like and how Buffy would have gotten there.

I don't think it would have had quite a big an impact as it perhaps could have had due to Willow going dark before. Would feel a bit like repeating things, but then of course it depends on how it's done.

Nope. I don't think it would've made sense, and if they did find a way to make her bad, it would completely defeat the themes BtVS has built up to (e.g. Buffy now embraces life). Plus, the whole Dark Willow thing had been done the season before.
