Buffy back on WB

ABC Family is doing a WB Network-retro double take with the additions of “Dawson’s Creek” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” to its weekday lineup starting June 22.

Counting on millennial nostalgia, the network will kick off with a week of “fan favorite” episodes based on votes from an online poll. The following week, starting June 29, each series will air from the beginning with “Dawson’s Creek” airing at 12 p.m. and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” at 5 p.m.

A bit surprised to see Buffy on ABC Family, Dawson's Creek is more their type of show.

I did see this. I think it's good, it will expose the show to more people, hopefully gaining more fans. I agree that Dawsons Creek is more like ABC Family but the first 4 seasons of Buffy are kind of too, its the later seasons I think don't fit, but hopefully new people will be into the show by that time. Too bad I don't have cable TV anymore. Theres something about watching Buffy on a channel as opposed to Netflix, that I enjoy. I think it's the nostalgia thing, but I also like the idea that theres other people watching it somewhere at the same time as me. The time slots also seem appropriate for the shows. Dawsons Creek is more of soap opera-y drama. I assume, Ive actually never watched it. lol.

I think they're trying to move into more teen fantasy territory... They're adapting the YA fantasy Mortal Instruments books into a TV show called Shadowhunters, which I am very surprised about. I would more expect this from the CW or something. Maybe that's their competition.

Excited to hear that Buffy will be on TV! Kinda sucks that it's only fan favorites, if only because they would hugely spoil new viewers, but Buffy is such a great show and I think it's awesome that they're including it for that week!

I'm also a bit surprised that ABC Family doesn't air Felicity, it would fit right in 😛 (I've only seen season one)

Not quite sure I see the link to Buffy and Dawson's Creek maybe besides the fact that they both use pop culture references and core audience are teens, although in Buffy's case I don't know if that is true.

Am right there with you on the point about preferring to watch a show like that on TV or maybe a Box Set over Netflix. I am traditional in that sense too, just love to have that set day and time to tune in and experience it along with others.
