News Buffy-Boards Ficathon 2009: Take Two

If you turn your minds back to January you will remember our BB's Buffy's Birthday Ficathon where we wrote fics about Buffy's birthday and posted a new fic each day (ok, every second day 😉).

Well, I have been thinking that it is time we stretch our writing muscles again and tackle some Big Bads😉

In the Buffy time honoured tradition we will be having an apocolypse themed ficathon throughout May, that is when the Hellmouth usually blew after all. So your fics will be based on Buffy and gang facing the end of the world...again😀

The rules are as follows:

  • The fic MUST be based on a apocolypse faced by Buffy and/or the Scoobies
  • It can be an apocolypse all of your own or can be based on one we saw in the show
  • We're going to limit it to no more than TWO submissions by any one author (to keep it fair)
  • All submissions must be beta'd, ask someone here on the boards or friend but you must have it checked for spelling mistakes before submitting
  • Please submit your fic with all bb codes included e.g. if you want something bolded make you have wrapped around the appriopriate phrase or word
  • As always the rating is capped at PG-13
  • The closing date for submissions is April 30th 12PM (GMT)
  • All submissions are to be sent to me

I know it is a bit early to be posting but I also know it can be a bit daunting coming up with a story and then getting time to write it, so with this much notice you have no excuses! (says she who still has to finish her last ficathon piece lol)

So, same as last time guys if you are interested post in here letting me know. Any questions you have send them my way too🙂

Also, I know there are some people who like to be involved but aren't too confident in their writing. Maybe you could a beta? Reading fics through for the authors and spotting spelling mistakes or plot holes? A good beta is hard to come by.

Any other suggestions from people on how they could be involved let me know...the more the merrier🙂

Very valid point...while I can almost garuntee what happened in January won't happen again (I had just returned to the country and my net just stopped working. Since then I have changed provided and have several internet access points available to me). However, I will send everything I get to Lyri (just in case).

I totally just volunteered you for work there hun lol

But, I agree EB...there will be back up plans put in place.🙂

I think I might make myself participate. Hmm. I just might. 😉

Because then it means I'm not writing my novel and that's always a good thing. (sw)

Yes, I'll do it, since you guys threw it at me anyway, lol. If for some reason you can't get through to Kean, I'm here for back-up.
 
I may think about doing this...You know, I say may, not will. For one; I have suckish fanfic skills and two not sure if I've got the time. But I'll make an attempt and I may send it in.
 
Awesome, I have NO idea what to write but you can expect an entry from me anyway! Love the big bad idea, should come up with some really creative entries! 😀
 
I might give it a go this time. Never written any proper fan fic before, so I'm not saying it will be good. I might have to invent some third person to tell the story or something, because I seriously don't knwo how to write for any of the characters we know and love. Would that be okay?

I actually meant to say that I wanted to write the story from the point of view of someone who's not one of the Scoobies, but thanks anyways. I might go and try to get Cangel to co-author 🙂

Once it's about a Buffyverse apocoplypse it is all good...my comment above was a total mix up...don't think you have to co-author because of that! You writing it yourself or you co-authoring, either one is great!

I'm interested, but I don't know if I can be on board. I'm buying a house with April 1 as the likely date of possession, so I should be spending the bulk of April painting, installing things, and moving stuff. I don't know if I'll have time. So chalk me down as a maybe.
