Buffy Boards Photo Scavenger Hunt

In honor of Buffy Boards' 10th Birthday celebration, we are announcing a fun new contest for those aspiring photographers among you! Everyone can get in on the act, whether you use a digital camera or a cell phone camera; I guarantee you'll have fun with this one!

Find and take photos of the following Whedonverse-themed objects. Each object is worth 10 points, with some items being worth a possible 15 (if you qualify for the bonus).

*Please make sure the photos you submit are no larger than 600 pixels wide and 400 pixels tall. Photobucket allows for resizing of images, if you don't know how to do that yourself, but since we may post these photos on the board, we ask that the file sizes are not so large that they stretch the screen. 🙂

And now for the list of objects:

1. a wooden stake
2. a silver cross
3. a headstone (5 bonus points for one with the name ALPERT or SNYDER)
4. a crypt
5. a book about witchcraft
6. a Buffy, Angel, or Firefly comic
7. a Whedonverse DVD
8. a Buffy or Angel action figure
9. a food item that reminds you of a Whedonverse show.
10. a picture of an item from the BB store (5 bonus points if it's one you actually own!).

The first three people to turn in a complete set of photos will have their total number of points awarded to their dorm, and be featured in February's newsletter. 🙂

I have some questions.

Does "a silver cross" mean a silver-colored cross, or a cross made of actual real silver?

At my photography forum, images submitted for a monthly challenge must be taken specifically for the challenge, rather than from the user's archives. Is that true here, too, or can we use an image from our archives?

Do you want submissions one by one, or once they're all collected? And how are they submitted - inserted into a PM, or link to a library on Photobucket or similar?

Well seeing as how I tend to work 8 day stints at work and don't happen to live close to a graveyard I guess I can count me out for this one. Unfortunate because if it wasn't for 3 and 4 (I don't think their are any crypts in Perth at all actually), then I'd be laughing!

I was wondering, if you take part do you have to do them all? Or can you just do the ones you're capable of and still get some points? Just I know I don't think I've ever seen a crypt in my life and don't feel comfortable lurking in the local graveyard taking photos of tombstones!!

Yeah I assume it's much fun to work in a team if you know the other person in "real life". Unfortunately I don't have such a partner. But this game sounds like much of fun! But right know I have much work to do so I can't participate! Hope there will be a Buffy Boards Photo Scavenger Hunt Part 2. Hope we can see some examples soon! 😀

I don't think allowing teams would be fair to people who don't really know anyone else here.

But the idea of partial submissions is a good one, so that nobody is precluded from playing just because they can't manage one or two or three items on the list.

I didn't mean that it has to be with someone that you know IRL. 🙂 You could just talk to each other via PM on BB and decide who will take what, email the pics to each other and then one of you PM:s in the photos. Teams of 2 could work, so it would still be a challenge to come up with all the pics. There could be some sort of sign up thread in the dorms our talk in the common rooms/lounges and then the prefect could team people up. That way noone has to feel like they have to know anybody to be part of a team. 🙂 I think it's a good idea. 🙂

Maybe there could be two categories? The single- and the team-modus? Because I think it's much more work for the ones who tries to make all the photos alone then just 4 or 5 photos in a team! I like both ideas, teamwork and singlework but then we should get informed who made the work allone and who worked in teams! So the two categories should solve this problem.

Personally I feel this should remain individual. There's a lot of people here that don't know anyone else that well/are shy/prefer to work alone so I wouldn't want anyone to feel left out or pushed out.

It can just be silver colored... It doesn't have to be made of actual silver; there's no way for me to tell that, anyway. 😉
The pictures must be taken for this challenge; no archive or stock photos allowed.
And please, please, PLEASE send all your submissions at the same time, or else my PM box is going to fill up way too quick. LOL

You don't have to do them all, if you don't want... If not everyone gets all of them, then we'll be awarding first, second, and third place to the people with the highest point values instead of the people who turned them in first. 🙂

No, working in teams would not be fair to everyone else. Please only work as an individual, everyone!

Dont most graveyards have crypts? I know the ones in new york city all have crypts.
