Ok so where have you been and what did you like/dislike about each place?

Any specific activities to participate in/places to stay/etc?
 
I've been all over Canada.. Both East and West Coasts... I'd have to say, that, being a big beer drinker, I love the East Coast. Halifax, NS is amazing. Great for tourists with the down-homeyness of it, and you're never far from a pub 😛

Victoria, BC is amazing in its own way too. It's a lot of sight-seeing. VERY beautiful. And snowboarding during the winter... THE place to be is Whistler 😀

Well all in all my travel experiences aren't that big.

I have been to France quite a few times, but that was just to Eastenders, Belgium, and Adinkirk (I think thats how you spell it)

I went to Holland when I was about 8yrs I think, I liked it there as it was sunny and we went to the miniature village. Also the first time we stayed overnight on a boat.

But for the past three years I have been going to Singapore and not this sunday but the next will make it 4yrs.

I love :hearton: Singapore as it never gets cold over there, unless you are in the shops for too ling (Air con) and it is cheap. I could go shopping for hours, which is what we do 😀. The food is also great over there as you have alot of different dishes to choose from be it Thai, Korean, Indian or just your plain old Chinese (YUM!).

My fav place to visit over there is Sentosa, which is a small island off of Singapore, this place is right near the equator and believe you me it can get pretty hot, last year we were playing miniature golf in the open and it was just too hot to play (Only time I ever complaiend about the heat) I think it was like 105 f.

I also love to visit The Night Safari, which is the worlds first (apart from Africa), some people think because it is at night you won't see alot of animals but I saw plenty and it is well lit so you can see properly too. There are also Nature Trails which is a bit scary as it isn't as well lit until you come to an animal enclosure. I remember we went on one trail and came across these otters which were wailing so loud they sounded like babies.

I recently went to Euro Disney at Christmas, and I love it there, don't care what people say its not just for little kids. Despite being freezing it was so cool seeing Sleeping Beautys castle. I got my pic taken with Pluto, Eyore and Daisy Duck. Apart from all the attractions there was also the Disney Village which was mainly shops, I bought this really warm fleecy Winnie the Pooh jumper (so warm).

In the Disney Studios you have a ride called Rockin Rollercoaster (Aerosmith ride) which is wicked we went on it 3 times in a row. You wait at the base of the coaster and a board counts down from three and then whooosh you start off at 50mph all over the place with Aerosmith music blaring out of these speakers inyour seat. It is a wicked ride.

Disney and Singapore I would reccomend to everyone, great places to visit. :: party :
 
Holland eh? North or South?

My mom's been there, Madurodam, I mean, the little village, I haven't, I hear it's wicked cool.
Amsterdam's neat, (and no not for the coffee houses or red light district) for the old buildings, the canals, the little shops, the little village hidden inside it. on one of the main Shopping streets you turn left off into a lil alley thing that has more shops then you turn right off that adn go through this door...and..its quiet. you're in the middle of Amsterdam, but very little city noise is there. it's an old section where catholic nuns and priests live, and nuns still live there, houses hundreds of years old, and its awesome.
Muiden - Muidenslot, it's a castle, with a moat, an orchid and right by a river with boats. it's awesome, not too expensive either.
Rijksmusuem. Some of the paintings in there are just...amazing?....it looks like you can touch some of the stuff, like it's really real. not a fan of the nightwatch tho.
Antwerp - (school trip, hung with two girls....but..) i thought the dutch were having a bit of a fashion weirdo time...then..i went there, and...it was worse. bright floral shirts, patchwork high heels (denim too) striped pants, and striped coat, But different colors and different way. eh..maybe it was me.
hilversum - almost all the radio, tv and...something else stations are there, hello famous ppl....or not, but..its still a cool city. born there too.
the food in the nl is also pretty good, its not like..americanized chinese?...where they change stuff, its all authentic, like if you went to china, or thailand or france you'd get the same food. the nl's just neat. 🙂 and to think for a drug ridden country i heard more about durgs here in my lil hick town in pa then i did in a city in the nl. go figure.

LA - the cultural districts. Santa Monica, Muscle Beach, god what was the other beach we went too....eh....
apparently i was near some buffy backlots w/o knowing it too. 🙁

hm...florida,,...disneyworld, a beach, be careful where you swim if not on beach, be careful where you walk, fire ants, hurt. bad.
virginia...eh..hm...i thought it was pretty and i just visited a school and an old friend so...can't say much there.

eh..i dunno if i have anything else but
 
Not so big with the traveling more with the dreaming. Still I've been to Paris, Greece (2times), Denmark (like a million and one times), Spain, England and that concludes the tour.

Have to agree with ChosenOne, EuroDisney is the place. It's something you've been dreaming about since you were a kid and that you're almost 18 when you finally get there makes no difference. I'm tellin you it was magic. As soon as I step into EuroDisney I was 8 again. Couldn't stop gigleing and the man/woman in the Jafar suit gave me the biggest fright ever. Can't really remember what was so fun about it, but it was.
 
I have traveled a lot but mostly to other Swedish cities or the closest countires, like Finland, Denmark and Norway.. and those are a lot like Sweden.
Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) - My aunt lived there for five years or something, it was great but way too hot for me
Thailand (Phuket and Phi Phi) - Years ago.. I guess I won't have to tell you what that's like today though
Russia (Petrozavodsk and St.Petersburg) - School trip, sorta, we had saved a lot of money and worked at this home for sick or homeless children in Petrozavodsk. Um, everything was grey, and I mean everything except those bright colored rich houses. But what I saw of St.Petersburg was great.
England (London) - Not that exotic for most of you I guess, but I loved it and it's a beautiful city..
France (Paris) - Hm, it was good, but a little too much for me.. really..
Greece (many of the islands) - Way too hot for me.. But the food is great and it's cool there, sort of, would never be able to live there though.
Spain - I was a kid (three years old), I only remember the hotel and the ice cream.. I can tell you the ice cream was amazing 15 years ago though
 
I've been to Michigan, I can't remember the city we were in when visiting family, small town though, very pretty if you like the outdoorsy stuff. But I do remember going to Skidway Lake which was the next city over where you did all your shopping and all that.

I went up into Canada, Ontario I think it was, but I was only there for like 15 minutes, but it looked nice from what I saw.

I've been to Phoenix Arizona, but again we were visiting family, stayed at the hotel most of the time anyway.

I've been to Sequoia and Yosemite up in Northern California, both very beautiful. Didn't do much in Sequoia though cause the place was covered in snow, but Yosemite was amazing, you can go there to camp, rock climb, walk to 18 mile hike, which is very tiring but definitely worth the experience. Plus they have this really great pizza that just makes the hike all worth it lol.

I've been to the Grand Canyon, beautiful, boring if ur not into that stuff, which my brother wasn't so he was bored.

I've been to Las Vegas, which was cool I guess, not much to do if you have no money since everything costs so much and ur under age.

I've been to Pismo down in Southern California, which again is beautiful, especially if you like the beach, or you like to ride the dunes.

I've been to Monterey Bay which is about a half hour to an hour from Pismo, little beach town with a bunch of shops. Cool if you like ur shopping.

I've been to LA a couple of times but I was young so I don't remember much, but if you like ur shopping, thats the place to go. Atleast thats what I hear lol.

Thats about it, i've been all over southern california riding in different places, unless you like the whole desert thing or riding thing, its not that interesting.
 
There are a couple of areas that Mrs P and I keep going back to...the Greek Islands (specifically Crete, but we have been to others 🙂) and the South-West of the US (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and bits of Nevada - OK, just the one main bit - Vegas, of course😉) So I guess you could say we like those a lot 🙂

I also have to agree with those who said Disneyland isn't just for kids, though it helps to have one with you 🙂 We went to Paris and Anaheim and had a superb time at both.

Wow, looks like we've been to some interesting places.

I, myself have traveled around the U.S. a lot.

I've been to Florida many times. I absolutely love Miami/South Beach. It's so different from most other areas in Florida in that you don't get as much of the geriatric crowd.

I've also been to Arizona twice. I have family there and my sister went to U of A. If you go, Sedona is beautiful and the city of Phoenix and it's surrounding areas are quite nice as well. I did a hot air balloon ride, which I'd highly recommend, but only if you're not afraid of heights, because it's quite scary. We also took a desert tour which was not only fun because of the hiking and such, but informative. We partied down in Tucson at U of A and some of the local bars with my sister.

I've also been to Las Vegas. I was 15 or 16 when we went and that was at a time where Vegas was gearing itself more toward families so I had a blast. The hotel we stayed at, The MGM Grand had its own amusement park and an enormous arcade. Plus there were shows at other hotels that were a blast.

I went to Cali right after Vegas and didn't really enjoy it too much. The beaches were nice, but L.A. compared to NYC didn't impress me.

Now onto my favorite vacations: Cruises

I went on my first cruise when I was 14. A big group of us (21 to be exact) took the Big Red Boat for a cruise around the Bahamas and then spend a week in Disney. Although the ship was small, it was still a blast.

My second cruise was when I was 18. We took the Horizon (Celebrity Cruises) out of NY and cruised down to Bermuda which was gorgeous. It was so clean and pleasant and the people were so nice. Even their money was pretty 🙂 The ship, although not big, was very elegant and the food was amazing.

My third cruise was when I was 21. We flew down to Ft. Lauderdale and boarded the Golden Princess. This ship was amazing! It was 17 floors high and the dance club was on the back of the ship, elevated off the top deck with windows all around to see the ocean. The wait staff was so nice and accomodating and unbelievably good looking 🙂 We went to St. Thomas - very beautiful, took a booze cruise to Magens' Bay, St. Maarten - went to Orient Beach and shopping, and Princess Cays'.

And my fourth (and definitely not final) cruise was in 2003 when we flew down to Miami to get on what was at the time, the biggest ship in the world. It was Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas and this ship was enormous. They had an ice skating rink, basketball courts, an inline skating track, casino, restaurants, loads of pools, it was amazing. We had a great time and went to the islands of Grand Cayman - very nice did lots of shopping and sunning, Jamaica - went horseback riding on the beach, Cozumel - looked pretty, but spent the day at this party bar, and RC's own private island in the Dominican Republic where I went Jet Skiing.

This year we're going down to Virginia Beach, where I've been before and absolutely love. It's so nice and clean down there, so not like the jersey shore 🙂
 
I was in Florida when I was younger which was good. Spain which was not bad, but its really not my kinda holiday.

Turkey, I didn't like at all, and my fave so far New York City. Didn't do much of the sights as that wasn't why I was there. But I did check out Yankee stadium 😉

I'm planning on going to Bermuda as a good friend from uni lives there and she has invited me out. And i'll be going back to NYC too 🙂
 
I think the coolest place I have been to was Canada. I forgot which part, but it was close to Minnesota(sp?). It was absolutley wonderful!
 
I've been to... er... lot's of the Republic of Ireland, and a little of the North. Mayo is the worst place on Earth, and I recommend it for people who want to see what Hell would look like if all the fire was rained out. If you must come to Ireland, go to Cork.

On my school's Euro tour we hit Switzerland, Germany and France. Switzerland is fabulous, and I'd give appendages to live there. It''s gorgeous, it's got a very endearingly wierd culture, and I want to live in a place where cows actually do have bells.

Germany was grey. Quite grey. Impressive, but very grey. And German food truly is as bad as every stereotype would have you believe. The best food for the entire three days was a bowl of gravy I drank by accident. They more than make up for this with an outstanding devotion to alcohol.

France suffered from a disquieting lack of berets, onions and striped jumpers, but was otherwise quite cool. A bit of a let down, because I was still on a Switzerland high, but Eurodisney was indeed terrific. Space Mountain is based on the same film that the Smashing Pumpkin's Tonight, Tonight video was, so I had time to appreciate that as the force of speed wrapped my face around my head.

Other than that, my love for cheap ass holidays means that I've visited every scumhole Med resort you can think of. If you've seen it on an Uncovered! show I've been there. Ibiza was particularly interesting, in a horrible, soul devouring sort of way. Majorca and Menorca were fairly nice, because there's some interesting stuff there if you're willing to explore the tourist towns. They're always, er, "lively" spots, but the only place it ever got... dangerously interesting was Portugal. I happened to be there during the Euro 2004 finals, and it turns out that having an Irish accent in the middle of a crowd of football supporters is not the ideal holiday set up. Who knew eh? When the riot-geared police arrived on horseback however, (Really) it more or less settled down. Personally, I think riot police should be a feature of every sun holiday, but there are those that might disagree. The riot police, bizarrely enough, were lovely, and posed for photos that I don't seem to remember ever seeing. Whatever the hell possessed me, I decided that I wanted to visit Gibraltar that holiday. Gibraltar was very cool, if, as it happened, an eight hour round trip away from Albufeira. Hmm.
 
I went on Space Mountain as well and it is a good ride, except for the part where my ears kept bashing from side to side when we turned.

Did you go on Rockin Rollercoaster?

I wanna go Disney again now :nod:

Belgium is not France, it's a country of its own. I don't know for the others, but their names doesn't sound so French. lol

Alright, as for me... hmm I've been in France, obviously... quite all over the country, not ALL but since I live in the South & my kins in the North, I've often made the one day trip, seeing many places ! I even got on the Corsica island... I can't say people were so nice there but the places were nice! I like my country I have to say... :lmao:
Disneyland is INDEED soooooo great !!! I agree with you all !!! Did anyone like the animated dolls (or puppets don't know what you would call them) & the music in the place as much as I did? When you're in a small boat & all... omg, I keep such a great memory of this one... & of course, the Peter pan one was amazingly great... & the pirates one... I could talk about it for hours !!! :redwink:

Then, hmm Spain as it is really not far from where I live. Barcelona is quite a nice town... only pity I can't speak Spanish... I felt lost. "Le Perthus" is great to buy cheap stuff, nice to go there.

Italy : Rome, Pompéi's ruin, Herculanum... all the "ruins" : that was a school trip for one week. Beautiful... I'll always remember how gorgeous is the basilic "St Pierre" or St Peter do you say in English?
That's really a country you feel great in, warm & welcoming... loved it

Austria : two years ago, for 20 days I was living at my penfriend's house. That's such a GREEN country, beautiful, & I was like with a gaping mouth all day long. Loved it really. I even watch the West Side Story musical on Constance Lake, it was with the Philarmonic Orchestra from Wien. Amazing !!!

Niger : Last summer. For a month. It was disturbing, but a great experience... amazing landscapes... the desert, definitely the kindest population ever, so warm, nice, welcoming despite their having not much.

The UK : Not really counts, i've been to Birmingham for 3 days, visited Warwick castle... but I was 9 & the only I asked was in Mc Donalds, "I like keptchup." Yep, it was in order to ask some to the woman... she understood what I wanted fortunately, & then an old woman tried to tell me something, & I answered "Me not speak English"... guess what, she got it, lmao. That was funny. :bbounce:
But anyway, I'm not sure still, but I might go to the UK next year... I'm waiting for an answer, then I'll know :: teeth :

The US : Not been there yet but i've been accepted for the Camp in America program... so I'm going this summer !!! I really can't wait. I know I'll be in NY for a few days before to go to the camp... I still don't know where it will takes place though. But at least I'm going for sure !!! :bbounce: :lmao: :trippy:
 
I take the Belgium one as a mistake but the others are in France.

Unless you go to that part for booze and fags then you most prob won't know it.

hehe portugal in euro 2004?....hehe, sorry, i totally sympathize but..oh poor you.
my best friend lives in prt, she's also a bit of a soccer nut, but for the most part was indoors but...as much as i'd love to go to prt, i dun envy you.

s'cool on the camp thing 🙂....

i was two places in florida...lived in...uh...a bay....and visited a...both had t's....god my lack of knowledge is appalling. im going to go hide because im mad at my memory. and red.
 
I've been to:

Brunei - fascinating place with some lovely untouched beaches.

Hong Kong - great shopping but far to overcrowded for my liking.

Morocco - very hot! Some great markets to shop in.

Ghana - not too bad at all, some lovely places to visit and the capital is quite lively.

Gambia - tiny place, but some nice up country jungle to visit.

Senegal - like the Gambia, they just speak French instead!

Ethiopia - cold! And as the capital is about 8000 feet above sea level, walking anywhere is tiring after a while. The people were great though.

Germany - lived there for three years and had a great time.

Holland - have relatives there so visit quite often.

Ireland - have loads of relatives there. Dublin is such a fantastic city to stay in.

Saudi Arabia - far far too hot, and I didn't like the general air of oppression.

Sarawak - lots and lots of jungle!

Hawaii - nice tourist place.

Los Angeles - yuck, won't go back again. There didn't seem to be any life or atmosphere to the city.

Orlando - ok, but only for the amusement parks.

Gibraltar - good for a visit of two days or so, but nothing else to do after that. I had to live there for six years!

Spain - just don't tell the locals you have come from Gibraltar.

Cyprus - a really good place to visit, lots of things to do.

Nigeria - a difficult place to live in, and not always particularly safe. The weather can be fantastic though.

France - full of French people, unfortunately. 😉 Not that bad a place, and the booze is still much cheaper than in the UK.
