Buffy can lead a normal life now... ?

At the end of the last Buffy episode somebody (don't remember who it was) told Buffy now that she is no longer the only slayer she can lead a normal life.

Do you think that's true?

I mean, I thought about it and her problem was not that she was the only one but that she did what she did.

It is very strange to have a friend or even more so a girlfriend who has got superstrength and goes out on patrol at nights, isn't it?

And remembering the problems Buffy had with her lovers... Angel lost his strength for one episode when he became human because of that demon's blood and he couldn't handle that he now was not strong enough to fight alongside her. Riley had that problem, too. So would other guys *not* have that problem now just because there are more girls like that?

What do you guys think?
 
Buffy is still a slayer but what Faith meant is that she will have to live normaly now because she's not the onlyy slayer
So basically she is still a slayer but will have a bit of an easyer lfe now that there are so many slayers in the world

Buffy is no longer alone, she can choose to settle down and be a cookie if that's what she really wants to be. away from the danger of the slayground, time with dawn, friends etc... she no longer needs to be what her destiny dictates and its what she deserves 🙂

IOW, she cheated her fate and tossed her responsibilities to the world aside. Not only that... Exactly how many new Faiths has Buffy helped to create?
 
Buffy no longer has to go out night by night dusting vampires. Of course were presuming that all the new slayers will dust vampires themselves.
 
so are ALL the potentails now proper slayers? And will it be like that forever or just one generation of potentials?
 
But what I wondered is, when a new girl is born, that would grow out to be a potential. Will she now be a slayer at birth or from a certain age? ... And how about Potential's that never became slayers and are now in their seventies, wasting life in a home of the elder ... are they suddenly gonna become slayers aswell? Or does it stop at a certain age?

just think of all those loose slayers that need training and potiental rogue slayers...tut tut its a whole new world out there now🙂
 
How normal do you think she could ever get? Even with all the potentials becoming slayers, she'd still have a lot to do. If one in a million became a slayer, there would only be 350 or so in the US. There'd be many ghoulies to go around! Besides, don't you think Buffy would suffer from some post-traumatic stress and have a hard time adjusting to a quieter life? People I know who have been "the only one" in stressful jobs tend to not adjust well once help arrives, and the longer they are "the only one", the harder it is to modify behaviour and adapt to the help that comes. I hope she goes on a cross country tour to identify and set up training for the new slayers. That'd be a cool concept!
 
killerdwarf, that was exactly what I meant.

And furthermore what I meant was: if you're different than others, say you've lost a leg, it will still effect your life, even though there are some other people in your town who have lost a leg as well. Stupid example, I know. Even so. Only because there are others who share your problems doesn't mean that your problems will disappear just like that.
 
Well, I dont know if this is an actual point, but people who have read 'Chosen: the One' will remember the last bit.
Dawn asks Buffy, what they're gonna do now, and as Buffy smiles, she thinks 'Cookie Dough'
I know its a book, and not the actual show, but it seems quite interseting! 🙂
 
yeah, i think that she'd still have to do something..because even though there are lots of slayers, theres the whole world to deal with and not ever place has a slayer. Also, i think it will be hard for her to just completly forget about being a slayer

Yup, I can't see Buffy walking down a street and saying "oh, a vampire, I wonder if it'll hurt someone" and walking away. In fact I think you could produce a riveting story arc on her adjustment to not being the only one. Maybe even have a slayer that does it almost as well as she does, and her reactions...

Dru: Glad I got it...sometimes I'm a bit behind the curve...and I liked your example!
 
I'm sure that once she and the Scoobies make contact with the new Slayers, Buffy will have a chance to lead a "normal" life. However, I suspect that she will discover that there is no such thing as a "normal" life. And if you look back on the series, she tends to have more trouble in dealing with life outside her Slayer duties - school, job, Joyce's death, etc.

Another question is this - will Buffy realize that she might grow to like being a Slayer, now that she is no longer obliged to be the "Chosen One"?
 
I also remember an episode, I don't remember which one it was though, where one of her fellow students - a guy - was attacked by another guy and Buffy helped him by beating the bully up. The other one wasn't grateful because he felt humiliated that a girl had to stand up for him.

Riley had problems with the fact that Buffy was stronger than he was and he couldn't protect her and so did Angel the one day that he was human.

Does really nobody think that this would still be a problem for her? I mean having a functional relationship was always an issue for Buffy.
 
It's strange that you mentioned that. Spike never really had problems with Buffy being just as strong or possibly stronger than her. And even before he fell in love with her, he considered her and the Slayers before her, a challenge.
 
That's true, LadyLavinia. Spike was the only one who didn't seem to mind. That's why I always thought Spike was the one who really, selflessly loved Buffy.
 
Amen! I love how insightful he is too. He always seemed to know what was up with her even before her friends. I wish her life would be with him one day but I know they'll probably be putting her and Angel together. Actually I don't think she should go with either. She needs a different life...
 
In the episode Chosen when Buffy and Angel are talking she tells him why she thinks her relationships never work. Angel points out that it might be because she's the slayer but she says it's because she's not finished growing as a person (this is were she has the whole cookie theory) Her problem with guys isn't that she's stronger than them, it's that she doesn't know what she wants from them.
