I like that the art says Buffy doesn't necessarily have to be Sarah Michelle Gellar. It makes me start thinking movie again.

Ooh, someone has to go to San Diego to bug Joss about the Buffy comic, heh.

July 22, 2006: Comic-Con 2006: San Diego
John and Joss Whedon will be signing at the Marvel booth at 4pm.

Oh, wait. You know what? One of the talkbackers to that EW story says that that Buffy cover art is actually by Jo Chen, Not Georges Jeanty

http://www.jo-chen.com/engpage/engpage.htm

It may be, cos that looks like a watercolor and she apparently works in that medium. Doesn't look like Georges' signature either. He apparently did a little napkin sketch for a fan here:

I like the cover, ya it doesnt really need to look exactly like SMG but its a comic so I dont mind as long as it still looks like Buffy.

This comic series needs to hurry up and come so I can start buying it and reading!

Hey, this is kinda cool. Georges Jeanty has sort of a Buffy update blog on his site. We'll probably get some cool sneak peeks before long...

"I'm pounding away on X-men #18 and Buffy #2 and having a blast. Like a "close the blast doors" sized blast, especially after I saw my first page of Georges Jeanty's Buffy art. That cute little sketch on his website? No, no, silly british man. The real thing is SO deeply cherry. It makes the fun I'm having revisiting these characters increase tenfold."

The artist made a brief aside concerning B-8 in a recent interview. He promises an issue at least before the end of the year. He says Joss is writing the first four.

JEANTRY: After the American Way I jump right on to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This was an interesting situation that came about with me doing this project, but that might be better left to another interview, Jen!

THE PULSE: I'm always up for that, but how about a few teasers for the Buffy fans in the house?

JEANTRY: Well, Joss Whedon came to Dark Hose about doing more Buffy books, but this time he figured he wanted to do what will become the eighth season of Buffy in comic form! To that end there will be about 20 or so books furthering the adventure of Buffy Ann Summers after her last television episode a few years back.

There have been some hints to what happens to everyone's favorite Vampire Slayer after the explosion (or was it an implosion?) of Sunnydale, but I can tell you readers are not ready for what they're gonna get! This will be the same Buffy in tone. Joss will be writing the first four issues thus far, but with an unlimited budget for effects and scenery. So all you Scooby fans take note; this is the series as it might have appeared on the big screen with a. Buffy should hit stands later this year. Updates can be found on Dark Horse's site or my own www.kabalounge.com I hope all of you American Way readers come and give that book a try.

Aww so I'm guessing it's no longer in October? It was originally meant to be out on Oct, right?

Why couldn't it come out in October? October is before the end of the year isn't it? I forget. Where did that October date come from? I heard it somewhere too.

I hope I'm remembering this wrong, but I seem to recall there were all these delays when Joss did Fray.

Yeah, Fray took forever I hear. Also wasn't (or isn't) Astonishing a bimonthly comic cos Joss is so busy?

Maybe he'll have a burst of inspiration and crank out those four issues really fast. And other Buffy writers are gonna pitch in so that's good...

Oh well...looks like we have to wait until March.

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER UPDATE

The new Buffy the Vampire Slayer series is targeted for a March launch, according to Dark Horse Comics.

The first story arc will be a four-part series. The comic will chronicle events after the Buffy television series.

Buffy creator Joss Whedon is writing, with art by Georges Jeanty.

He's from Angel season 5, The Girl in Question, The episode where Angel and Spike go to Italy, to see Buffy Aand find out she is now dating the Immortal. We are not sure if he's Evil or good or A vampire or Human, but he doesn't like Angel and Spike!

Ah, That was the only season 5 ep I missed. Well, that one, and the puppet ep. But, I caught a re-run of Smile Time. Thank you.

WWOOOT lmao

but what does Buffy have left to do? i mean sure Glorry could form again or all the demon "boses" she killed could come back....but Im stumped at what he has left to say, or write.

Georges Jeanty on the Buffy season 8 comic book

Georges Jeanty, artist of the first arc of Dark Horse Comics' Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8, told The Continuum that all systems are go for the book's scheduled March launch.

"I've finished the first issue," Jeanty told The Continuum on Sunday at the Motor City Comic-Con in Novi, Mich. "I hope to finish everything by December."

Jeanty said he's enjoyed working with writer and Buffy creator Joss Whedon, who hand-picked him for the project, which picks up from the end of the television series.

"He's a full-script kind of guy. Everything is there," Jeanty said. "But I will talk to him about specifics. He's very, very giving."

Jeanty was originally concerned in dealing with likenesses, but he said that's working out well.

"I've got Sarah Michelle Gellar down pretty well and I've got Xander (Nicholas Brendon) down," Jeanty said. "Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) is presently the one that's giving me some trouble. She has such a pretty face and is so simply beautiful. There's not a distinctive characteristic like an eyepatch or like with Sarah Michelle Gellar, her nose."

I dig the avatar Epo, heh. So, Xander's gonna be on the scene, good. And now we know why they're delaying this til March. Makes sense from a promotional standpoint I guess.

You doubt the almost infinitely fertile mind of the Whedon?

Shame on you! Shame, I say!!! 😉

I don't get it ??? Can you explain? I know Whedon's supposed to write the first 4. Are they going to release all 4 together, or something?

Well...just speculating...

Dark Horse's new Buffy comics will be released in a series of mini-series. The March launch will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the television show's debut.

Get it out there in news more, maybe. The media loves anniversaries.

I think they just want to give themselves a good enough start off point so they dont have worry about delaying the comic any.
This way the comic will come out each month as expected and wont get pushed back a month, and a trade paper back/hard cover collecting some of the issues will be easier to make.

And well the 10th anniversery (its already been that long?!)

I just had a nasty thought. If the first one is complete, they'd best have armed guards watching over it, because if the wrong person gets access to it, it's going to be all over the internet in a matter of hours.
