Buffy cover story in the new Commonweal

You'd never expect to see SMG on the cover of Commonweal. Or would you? But there she is on the cover of the November 7 issue. There is a major [read: veddy serious] article about BtVS inside. The kind you can point to when someone says you're wasting your time on Buffy. lol

Your local library may just have this on the shelf right now.

Wow! That's actually really cool. I have to confess that my initial reaction to your post was, "What the hell is Commonweal? Did he forget the th at the end?". And then it turns out that Commonweal is a magazine by and for catholic lay people. Which makes it odd that i've never heard of it, since I am A) Catholic and B) enjoy laying people.

ouch. ....Right. Sorry. So as I was saying, right before I began to solemnly swear that I would make my Confirmation next week for sure or next month at the very latest, was that I'd be really interested to see what a non-ecclesiastic catholic take on BtVS would be. Catholics (in my experience) don't really find the uproarious humor in dialogue like "Note to self: religion...freaky.", but on the other hand for a professed atheist Joss Whedon throws a lot of christian imagery (yes, BESIDES the crosses, thank you) and allusions at the viewer.

I have no clue what you all are talking about with this magazine...first I've heard of it but now I guess I'll have to go try and find it...which means I have to venture out THERE...in the DAYLIGHT no less! Damn these unhealthy obsessions!!!
