Buffy DVD's released again

well I guess if you really really like the idea of new cover art it's worth it... :S

It's all based around milking the Twilight dollar, of course - this logic that execs have that you can let Buffy ride on Twilight's coattails and get some of Twilight's fans interested in Buffy because hey! vampires! It's weird though because any DVD store I've been to has individual seasons for $19.99 or maybe $24.99 at the most. So $200 is certainly no advantage for buying the complete series.

I think the idea to re-releasing the box sets is to remind people their there, like people will have looked before an been like 'I'll pick it up later' and by putting out new boxed set, it sparks your interest again!

Although they shouldn't include new bonus features, it osn't fair if you already bought the box set thinking it was the finale one and would have all the bonus stuff on it!

Yeah but the box set wasn't fair to the people (e.g. moi) who had bought the individual seasons, either.

I think a few crappy little bonus features here and there is unfair. If they wanted to completely overhaul the bonus features and do them in style (have you seen the bonus features on "Lost" DVDs?) then it'd be worth it, and fans would cough up the $200. But its release date is two months away, so I doubt it...

I bought the individuals also, but I think it is fair to include extras in the Big Box set, you kinda just expect that.

But I don't think it's cool to rerelease the big box set again with new bonus features, as that isn't a common thing to happen, lol

It'd be nice (although not nice enough for me to want to get rid of my current set) if the new, repackaged re-release has a nicer design than the 2006 release.

The package art for the 2006 collection looks good, but it's not all that functional--the folders stacked on on top of the other is a bit annoying, enough so that I got a discgear unit for storing the Buffy/Angel DVDs. As cool as it looks, as sturdy as it is (at least for me), and as nice as it is in terms of saving space on the shelf...... the design needed a change. The point is to watch the DVDs and it's a bit silly to have to take out half of the folders just to get to the one that you want.

Can't really say much more though until we get new details, and hopefully a shot of the interior.

I bought the individuals and the Chosen set. I'll even buy this one too IF it has new features.... I'm that much of a Buffy fan/sucker lol

Cool; I wonder if Angel will get the same deal.

I have the standalone releases, but may get this. Tempting...

Honestly I bought all the seasons individually, however I'd like to buy them again because in truth i dont know if i'll ever get them back as they are in alabama and everytime I mention someone sending them to me bah.... anyways.... If i had the money I would probably buy it lol

I first bought Buffy on tape, and then S3 & S6 singular on DVD, and then went out and brought the whole boxset. I think I have spent just a little too much already, to be buying a new boxset. If it were to be anything like the 'Friends' new boxset which does feature plenty more, then maybe if that is the case with this new boxset which I doubt, you never know I could well end up spending more coin on BTVS!!!

I bought mine on tape too haven't yet converted all seasons to dvd
I started buying the individual DVD sets, but then I bought 2006's Chosen box set for around $70. As far as I know, the only extra bonus material is a disc with some commentaries and overviews about relationships, demons, etc. in the series. I don't see this being much different.

I would like to see a box set released for Angel though.

I already have all the standalone seasons and the boxset...if the inside to this boxset is beyond good...I would think about getting it. But then I would totally never either open it or open it and never use it.

And Angel is getting a new one just like Buffy (Angels box themes always look better, like the new one does)

Won't this be the 3rd time they are re-releasing the DVD's? lol. The first sets (here in North America) came out from 2001-2004; and they were in a book opening style kind of way. Then in 2006 or whatever they started to make the DVD sets that had individual boxes for every 2 discs. Now what they gonna do? I wish they would release them on blu-ray. I mean we already know it can be released in a 16:9 ratio and look good (the UK DVD's). So why not do that and just make the visual in HD. If they can do it for older TV shows than Buffy; then I am sure they can do it for BTVS.

You misses the re-release they did at the beginning of this year. At Walmart they have all the individual seasons in these single standard DVD cases (all six discs are in the single case) now for $19.99 each.

Plus the Chosen Collection, so this will really be the fifth time. 😛 And with VHS, that's six.
