Hey guys,

Buffy is one of those shows that I wanted to watch, but was never able to get around to. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a used copy of season 1. I didn't make it past episode two because the video was jumping forward a second or two and/or stuttering. It did this a few times in both episodes- very annoying. So I got a refund.

Then, a couple of days ago I was at a local record store and they had season one used. So I bought it. The disc were pristine. Not a single scratch. The nicest looking used discs I had ever seen. Remembering where the first hiccup was, I checked the second set. Sure enough it happened again! It's right around 14:40 where Buffy is having a conversation with Willow.

I don't have issues with any of my other discs in my huge collection. And I tried multiple players and DVDRoms. I'm thinking this is some sort of mastering error. Does anyone else have this problem with their season 1 discs? I even ripped the disc in file and iso mode and had zero problems. Was there a bad batch of these that were released? Google is turning up nothing.

Getting frustrated.

I have no problems with my Buffy DVDs. I had problems with 2 discs, however, they were caused by very, very deep scratches. I bought replacements, and everything was fine.
My season 1 DVDs are German and my others are from the UK. I guess you live in America, so mastering errors of the US discs wouldn't affect my versions.
How old are the DVDs? I have read reports that some old DVDs and CDs tend to jump because of the data decaying. However, I have some DVDs that are more than ten years old and I have no problems.

I've had Region 2 and Region 1 Buffy Boxset and never had that problem with the DVDs. If it's just that Disc it might be worth watching the episode on Netflix or something.

I haven't had this problem with s1 but I do have a similar problem with one of my s6 DVD. 2 episodes on it won't work, but it doesn't seem like the disc is scratched. I did watch those eps multiple time before it stopped working, so I'm not sure what is wrong with the disc.

I had a problem with my original Season 7 set kinda similar to this. Basically, on the last disc, it would get to the middle of the episode and then stop working. I bought another set and haven't had a problem since.

Sometimes discs aren't properly lined up with the player's reader, and it can cause the disc not to play.
