Buffy ep by ep; GONE-invisible Buffy and Nancy Drew Willow

We talk about being out of character but characters change, the Buffy we see in season 6 is very different from the girl we meet in season 1, even without having been dead. It's not so much Buffy acting out of character as her character developing

I am not referring to season 1 cause people certainly develop when they move on from high school to college and life problems...Buffy in s6 has a different character from season 5...that's what I meant
I don't care whether Buffy was sexually promiscuous or not. But what really pisses me off about this episode was that Buffy tried to sexually assault Spike, while invisible . . . and writer David Fury and ME tried the whole scenario as a joke. So much that most fans today do not view that scene as attempted rape on Buffy's part.

this wasn't a rape. She may have pushed him but I never saw him screaming "No" and complaining much

Well we don't know how much ahem cheating Buffy performed on Spike but I think it's implied that he let her then kicked her out afterwards.
To compare and contrast what Spike does to Buffy on the balcony of the Bronze in Dead Things isn't rape, she could stop him but decides not to. Seeing Red is rape, he tries to force himself upon her and she frantically fights him off.
Buffy never rapes anyone although arguably Faith and Willow do. Spike has raped thousands and without his soul what's one more?

Buffy tried to sexually rape Spike. She went into his crypt. She shoved him against the wall and started ripping off his clothes. During this whole time, Spike tried to fight her off and he looked genuinely scared.

It stopped being attempted rape when Buffy laughed and Spike recognized her voice. Only then did their encounter became consented sex . . . at least on Spike's part.

Why is this so hard to believe? A lot of people have recognized this. Some have criticized David Fury and Mutant Enemy for making a joke out of Buffy's attempt to sexually assault Spike.
 
Buffy does act in really out of character ways in this episode. The whole thing with Spike was weeeeeeird coming from her. And she seems pretty immature about the situation itself. But I guess she was trying to have some fun.
 
It seemed to fit, the way she was acting. Just with where she was in her life, and suddenly she was invisible. She kind of wanted to fade away for the whole season up to this point, and now nobody can see her.

I don't think Buffy acts out of character, she's a sexy young girl with needs (think of her fondling the crystal in Helpless and sneaking a peek at Joyce's fertililty statue). Again Buffy doesn't rape Spike, she initiates their sex and he makes no attempt to say no or fight her off. When they go to fifth base together at the Bronze she seems reluctant at first but makes no attempt to fight him off and whilst she says "Don't" she never pleads with him to stop and is obviously not distressed, this is 'insistent seduction' just as she does with Spike in this ep. No comparison with that and the horrible scene in Seeing Red, hell Buffy and The Master or the Shadowman's demon seems more enjoyable for her than that.

Buffy TRIED TO RAPE Spike. Period. Buffy is no more above such actions as anyone else. And yes, Spike did try to fight her off . . . until he realized that it was Buffy inside his crypt. That is when her actions ceased to be attempted rape. Is it really so difficult to consider that Buffy is capable of such actions? Are you so determined to keep her on a pedestal that you would resort to splitting hairs in order to excuse her actions?
