Buffy ep by ep; GRAVE-my all time favourite Buffy moment

I just watched this ep on Logo yesterday.... That final scene between Xander and Willow never fails to make me cry. I loved Xander and Willow more than Buffy herself when I was in high school. I prayed they'd get together, but when they tried and it didn't work out, I always thought their friendship was so beautiful. 🙂
To see that after everything else the gang had tried, Xander's love for Willow was the only thing that could bring her back from the edge, was absolutely touching and moved me to the core.

that scene always gets to me too :)
Nick Brendon is fantastic in that last scene. I don't think he gets enough credit. There is this scene as well as a couple in season 7 which are really moving and he delivers the emotion impeccably.

One thing that's interesting about Grave is not *just* that Xander saves the day, but that really it's Giles, Anya and Xander saving the day. I mean, you could say that Xander saved the day in "Prophecy Girl", and that it was a real team effort in "Graduation Day" and "The Gift" and quite literally a 'team effort' in "Primeval", but "Grave" is the only season finale where Buffy effectively contributes nothing. Really, what she does is follow a ball of fire, fall down in a big hole and fight some red herrings, I mean animated skeletons.

For me that's interesting. It's really an indication of how BtVS's ensenble cast is what gave it such strength. Despite the name of the show, it was never about only one character. Again and again they make the point that what makes Buffy different from other slayers, more powerful than them, is the friends she has. We see here that even without her they're still a real force.

This is one of my favourite episodes. Was it anyone else that thought it was kind of beautiful that Willow turned bad 'cause she loved Tara so much? I know, the things she did was horrible, but I have a weak spot for characters in Buffy who let their emotions get the best of them. I'm glad she changed back though. 🙂
