What the fanficcers thought;
Read a lovely one once where in order to honour Cassie's memory Dawn takes Mike to the winter dance in her place and they have a wonderful time.

Questions and observations;
Amanda for the first time, by a long chalk my favourite potential, I think she's just wonderful. Surely Tara's gravestone should have an epitaph? Glenn Mornoshower who plays Cassie's dad is one of those actors you see EVERYWHERE in films and tv. Buffy borrows Dawn's clothes, suprised they're not too tall for her. Dawn's dialogue seems very Law & Order, a show MT guest-starred on. Buffy resents being referred to as Dawn's sister just as she didn't like being known as Willow's friend at university. Wouldn't it make more sense for Spike to tackle the demon who he can hurt rather than the boys whom he can't?

It's good to see Amanda for the first time. Who knows we would see her again in Potential and later on. 🙂 I cracked up when Dawn went to see Buffy and complained about Buffy borrowing her clothes. And that dude is totally a jerk. Mike is cute, though. 🙂

Buffys starts her job and meets a psychic, and Anya is nowhere to be seen sadly.



Help

This episode is a typical season one episode, it gives a nice message though it bugged me on some scenes. Let's start from the beginning. The Scoobies are hiding in the coffins. Why do Buffy, Xander and Willow go through- (Dawn.) Huh? (You said Willow. It's Dawn.) Oh, sorry, it's a habit. Right. Dawn. Willow's replacement apparently. I gotta admit she's doing a great job with that. She's the typical high school computer hacker Willow. (With better clothes.) Anyway, what was I saying? Right, why do Buffy, Xander and *Dawn* go through all this trouble for one vampire. Potential vampire. (They say we're returning to the basics. Remember season one? Everything was a big deal back then.)

Buffy's first day at work! I was actually very excited about this, and I've enjoyed the several talkies with the students. Especially the one with Dawn.

Aw. Xander and Willow. Best friends 4eva. I'm glad the writers wrote this scene. In the last episode we didn't get a Xander/Willow scene. And I'm glad we had Willow visiting Tara's grave. Nice scene. (Except when Xander said "From beneath you, it devours.") Grrr, don't remind me. I'm already sick of listening to it and it makes me hate the person who says it. (Uh... Xander?) I know! The writers hate me! They want me to hate Xanny-tune! (Xanny-tune? Whatever happened to Xanpet?) Heh, I'm in a Lorne mood.

Cassie. Why does she have to die? She's far more interesting than all the other potentials.

I like Buffy sending Dawn on missions. I love S7 Dawn, I love that she's been given a chance to prove her worth and is seen as a grown"¦ (No! Don't start this again! We get it! Dawn is treated like an adult and you like it. End of story.) *pouts* you don't have to be so rude about it.

Aww! The original Scoobies and it's Willow who's sitting in front of the computer! Look at them. The three of them. So cute. Oh why writers? Why? *sniff* *cries* (There, there, they're still friends at this point of the show. Look) *bitter tears*

Okay. Here it is. The scene that bugs me. Here it is. Okay, so now Buffy and Xander went to see Mr. Drunk, right? Think about it. Father. Drunk. Abuses his child. And *Xander* is in there with Buffy, and what did he do? Nothing. A big fat nothing. (I gutta admit that's a wasted opportunity. I mean why have Xander there if he's not gonna utter a word?) Right. Why? I mean they could have Xander yell at the father that he's lying, that he's abusing his daughter, have him say something. Xander and Cassie have the drunken father in common, of course Xander will assume her father would abuse her. But what do these writers do? Waste it. Why? Because it's Xander. Grrr! I'm gonna go read Sands of Time.

I'm back. (Feel better?) Yeah, Xander's father beat him up in the school library and Buffy and Giles saved him. Now he's in the hospital. Spike killed Xander's dad, and went to visit Xander and kissed him and then Xander tasted his father's blood but he didn't know that it was his father's yet but was still mad at Spike for killing someone even though Spike was a soulless vampire and he did make it clear to Xander that he would keep feeding on human's blood and being with Xander wouldn't stop him.

Anyway, Buffy visits poor souled Spike in the basement. I wanna go there and hug Spike. (Or have Xander do it.) Squee!

I loved that after all the trouble that Buffy went through, Cassie died. You can't control some things in life. I believe in God, and I believe that when He decides to have someone die, they die, no human can stop it, not a doctor, nor a nurse, nor an ordinary guy, no one.

PS: There's a deleted scene in the ep about Anya trying to grant a wish to some girl but fails. I'm also pissed at the writers for cutting the scene. This scene would have helped building up for Selfless' events. Besides, Emma is one of the cast, she should appear in all the episodes!
