The Good;
ALL OF IT! Just wonderful, love it to death, amongst many favourite bits have to be Dawn falling off the audience stands, Dawn's lapdance, Dawn's catfight, Buffy seducing RJ, the split-screen stuff, Spike and Buffy wrestling over the rocket launcher, Buffy subtly screwing Dawn over for RJ's affections, Xander's KISS plan for getting the jacket back, the list goes on!

The Bad;
Nada, it's all terrific! Actually rather stupid that D'Hoffryn has just 'changed his mind' and now wants Anya killed. BUT he might have just wanted her to suffer for a while or might be in league with The First? Then again the demon might be sent by someone else Anya wronged now that D'Hoffryn no longer protects her?

Best line;
Xander (reminding Spike of their 'plan') "Grab it!"

Women good/men bad;
RJ's dad used his enchanted jacket to seduce the girls (in fairness to RJ and his brother they don't know that, they just think they're popular because they're goodlooking football stars). One question that occurs, 23 year old teaching assistant Buffy seduces 16 year old RJ (statuatory rape in California) and it's every schoolboy's fantasy. Imagine if that was Dawn and a male staff member, what would we think?

Jeez!;
I know it's hysterically funny and a little bit sexy but Dawn's cheerleading routine just makes me cringe, you feel for her every time. Which of us haven't embarassed ourselves trying to impress the object of our affections? You also feel bad for Buffy when a distraught Dawn cuts up her outfit. Buffy implies that Joyce would be ashamed to see how Dawn is acting but rapidly realises that this is a step too far and takes it back. Then again when you look at Buffy and Spike and 'teenage' Joyce and Ripper on the hood of the police car in 'Band Candy' you wonder if she'd actually be shocked at all? Maybe it runs in the Summer's family?

Kinky dinky;
Dawn in a cheerleader costume (Xander hopes Buffy get's a new one), giving RJ a lapdance then has a great big girly catfight complete with hair pulling, scratching and rolling around on top of one another. Buffy puts on her plaid schoolgirl skirt (to make herself look younger?) and get's it on with RJ on the school desk. She'd probably look better with a white blouse but then she might as well tie her hair in pigtails and start singing 'Hit me baby one more time'. Buffy describes Dawn as a slut-bag/hussy and thinks should go down to the docks and wait for the fleet to come in. Is that how she supported herself in LA prior to getting her waitress job in 'Anne'? Or maybe why she no longer seems to need to work at the DMP despite her counsellor job only being part time? (for the cheap seats I am IN NO WAY serious! No more so than the bleached blonde Angel says Wes had sex with in season 2 actually being Spike or Willow and Cordy being in the closet together in School Hard means they're both gay so please don't whinge. Although come to think of it Willow....?) Buffy almost seems to indulge in ahem, self-stimulation when RJ walks away for the first time after putting the whammy on her. Xander thinks back nostalgically to the events of 'Bewitched, bothered and bewildered', nice to see Jenny, Joyce and human Harmony again (and the last time we'll see CC in any way on Buffy). Xander smiles at the memory of BBB, Willow looks uncomfortable whilst Anya gives a little look of jealousy. Xander confesses a sexual attraction to Dawn but feels guilty about it (although he says he misses when Dawn used to have a crush on him). Weirdly he says 'Daddy likes' even after he told Warren off for a similar phrase. Buffy says Snyder was always 'on her' and 'riding her'. Buffy alludes to porn star Anna Nicole Smith. Dawn thinks Buffy is hot and is seemingly envious that she has 'sex that's rough'.

Captain Subtext;
In a riposte to the evidence for being Bi Willow wants to turn RJ into a girl so she can love him. Then again Willow says her attraction isn't about physical presence which is interesting when you think of her later comments to Kennedy that she fell in love with 'A woman rather than women'. When Anya points out that RJ's 'physical prescence has a penis' Willow says she can work around it. Like Xander she confesses a sexual attraction to Dawn 'Right there with you buddy!". Spike is meanwhile back in the closet, at Xanders? RJ's brother was worried that he found poetry under his younger brother's bed. Spike seems fascinated by the 'Angel' figurines at Lance's house.

Notches on Scooby bedpost: so exactly how far does Buffy go with RJ? Her blouse is off, her bra is on, she's straddling him but we've no idea what's going on beneath the skirt for either of them or what happened before Xander interrupted? Come to think of it Xander tells her to get off RJ but then just walks out leaving them to it (check out the little look Buffy and RJ trade, as if to say "We've still got time!") She later refers to him as her 'lover' so I'll put him down as a possible. Equally we've no idea what RJ and Dawn got up to before dancing at the Bronze but without any definite evidence (and RJ denies they did anything even though she was so hot) I think we'll safely assume that Dawn is still 'hymenally challenged' as they said on Clueless, even in the Bill Clinton sense.
Giles: 2; Joyce & Olivia, possibly Jenny and 3xDraccy babes?
Cordy: 1?
Buffy: 4 confirmed; Angel, Parker, Riley, Spike. 2 possibles, Dracula+RJ(?)

Xander: 2; Faith, Anya
Willow: 2;Oz and Tara
Riley; 3; Buffy, Sandy and unnamed vampwhore
Spike; 2 Buffy and Anya
Anya; 2 Spike and Xander

Dawn in peril; 13 but self inflicted this time. Again Buffy's love for Dawn seems to overcome the power of the spell implying a deeper connection between her and Dawn than just sisters.

Dawn the bashful virgin; 9 NOT ANY MORE! Joyce's little girl is all slutted up and hot to trot! It's a bit much that Buffy criticizes Dawn's outfit considering some of the stuff SHE used to wear in season 1&2, the leopardskin miniskirt from BBB as exhibit A (and that was BEFORE she got hit with Xander's love whammy!)

What the fanficcers thought;
The cliche of an enchanted object or spell going wrong making one character irresistable to all is a feature of more fics than you can shake a stick at!

Questions and observations;
Note Buffy still drives Joyce's Geekmobile. Badly! Oz's old favourite 'The Theme from a Summer Place' is used for when the girls fall in love whilst when we switch to split screen the music get's very Charlie's Angels (who doesn't love a bit of funk guitar?). We know that CC doesn't have a sister but wouldn't it be wonderful if the head cheerleader was her cousin or something? Did RJ's brother know Daryl Epps?
If Xander was on the SDH swimteam shouldn't he have his own athletics jacket? Dawn refers to Monty Python's Spanish Inquisition sketch, been hanging with Xander WAAAYY too much! Buffy's hair looks very similar to SMG's porn star character's in Southland Tales.
Marks out of 10; 10/10, I know a lot of people don't like this one too much but I love it, in a pretty serious season it's such a fun, amusing romp, could only be better if Faith, Joyce and Tara were present. The first ep I watched this season and then immediately went back and watched it all again then watched it for a third time the morning after. All hail the pushy queen of slut-town!

I love this episode. It's so funny. Sarah was great there, and I love all the Willow moments. I always laugh hard when Buffy is trying to kill Wood and Spike is stopping her.

10/10

This episode is amusing. I love the split screen style, Spike and Buffy fighting over the rocket launcher and Anya robbing a bank! 9/10.

I love it so much. It's very very funny. I laughed every time the music plays when RJ slowly walks away. And those Summers sis scenes are touching. 🙂

Oh, I think that cheer captain looks like Eliza in Bring It On. 😀

Really funny episode! At first I thought Dawn was truly madly in love but when Buffy started acting this way I was like "no way!". Willow and Anya made me laugh incredibly! Spike and Buffy outside Principal Wood's office were hilarious!!!Running all around! :lmao:

You're not the only one. I like even love some scenes but it's not enough. As a whole this episode is far far away from my favourites.

This episode is just eh for me. I mean, it's definitely got some funny parts but for the most part it's just "ok". I thought it was hilarious when Xander and Spike stole the jacket... Poor RJ was probably going WTF?! LOL Imagine if you were walking through a mall or something and saw two old guys run up and steal a high school student's school senior jacket! LOL
I really did feel for Dawn in this episode. Oh, the heartbreak of teenage love. Awww. 🙁 And Buffy seducing him was just sad to me. She's so hot she could have any guy she wants. I know it was a spell but to see her getting it on with a high school boy was just sad to me.

I

evil mastermind karma for the link on the fullstop. and here I thought Aly Fan had been our prefect most deserving that epithet!
I lot of folks don't like HIM but I love it, some really great levity in season 7, just a fun, dumb, sexy ep. In the last edition of Buffy comics Buffy calls Xander a cradle robber/paedophile for shacking up with Dawn but I'm suprised he doesn't remind her of her and RJ.

As for Buffy seducing RJ , every schoolboys dream so I don't find it sad. They say guys go gaga over schoolgirls because even if they're 80 they still lust after the girl they loved and never got when they were 13. Maybe RJ is the same for Buffy (although with girls maybe it's the teacher they liked rather than the classmate?)

I really like this episode a lot. It feels like one of the few 'standalone' episodes of Season 7. And it's great fun - clearly a throwback to the early exploits of the show.

I love it when Buffy falls under the spell. Sarah Michelle Gellar is just hilarious whenever she plays it for laughs. Every line she has and each facial gesture is pure comedy gold.

Did you hear that? It isn't real. You're just crazy! - Buffy

I laffed.

Another Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.

Him:

(I hate this episode.) Um"¦ hello! I'm supposed to talk first! (Okay, go. I don't feel like talking, I really hate this episode.) K, you won't be missed anyway.

On the contrary, I like this ep. It was funny and (a complete Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered rip-off.) I thought you said you won't be speaking! Anyway, this ep has a bunch of funny lines, and of course, Spanderness!!!! (*snort*)

Okay, we're starting with Xander who's getting a new roommate. I'm all hyper and happy and I know the writers hate me so much and won't let my happiness last. When Spike was all "Oh, it's not working, I shouldn't stay here." I wanted to slap that broody unfunny anymore vampire on the back of his strangely bleached head. Then *oddly* Buffy tells him he will be staying at Xander's for the sake of the Spander fans. I've never loved Buffy more. I'm shocked that Xander so easily agreed with this, especially with his anger about the AR and his Spike dislike. *Maybe* he's secretly in love with Spike. (Or maybe he just loves Buffy so much and will do anything she asks him to) Bander? Shut up! (I swear I wasn't thinking about Bander when I said that! But when you think about it"¦) Hey! You promised you won't be talking! Shut it!

Okay, why isn't Willow with Xander, Dawn and Buffy while they deliver Spike to where he belongs? (Xander's closet? "¦ that didn't come out right) *drools* (Oh, no.)

Dawn and Buffy doing their sister thing in school. Huh. I thought Dawn didn't want to speak to Buffy while they're at school. They talk about Buffy's fuzzy feelings for Spikey. Nice the sisters are having a talk. Buffy doesn't open up that much though. Bad, bad Buffy. Okay, I don't really like comparing Xander's leaving of Anya at the altar with Spike's attempted of rape. I see the point they're trying to make, but dumping someone at the altar is not like an attempted rape. Maybe compare Willow's killing of two humans while she had a soul with the attempted rape, but what Xander had done is nowhere near as bad as Spike's or Willow's. (Honey, the show is going for 'Men are the only sinners'.) And women are saints. (Exactly.)

Buffy checking up on Anya. Awww. I guess she's feeling guilty about trying to kill her in the last episode. And Anya is so adorable with her hair like that. Why would she go blonde again? She's at her cutest with her hair brown and straight. Poor Dawn, got bashed by Anya, but then again, Dawn had been way more useful than Anya, Willow and Xander all combined in the last few episodes. Her computer skills are improving fast.

Is it okay if I jumped the Dawn/RJ stuff? (Oh please, do!)

Okay, in short, Dawn had embarrassed herself to impress RJ. Now she's crying in her room and locking the door. Buffy tries to make her feel better. Xander comes in and Buffy tells him they may cancel video night, Xander says"¦ Xander says"¦ I"¦ I can't say it. (He'd still rather to stay at the Summer's instead of a cozy night with Spike *smirks*) *Goes all Red Forman and sticks her foot in Xander's ass*

Again, where is Willow?! It's more convenient if Willow was with Buffy trying to cheer Dawn up since she lives in the same house. (You just want Xander to be with Spike) Is it obvious? (Yeah, well, keep in mind Xander is closer to Buffy and Dawn now. He's like the father of the house, while Buffy is the mother.) Yeah, I forgot the whole Daddy/Mommy thing Xander and Buffy got going on.

Was I the only one shocked that Dawn didn't yell, "Get out, get out, GET OUT!"? I guess she's taking the maturity thing seriously.

The Bronze. Finally! Here's Willow! Awww the three friends spending time together again. And I so wanted to see Spike living at Xander's, LOL at picking up his wet towels. God, Spike is so William-ish. I'm gonna miss Spike

Okay, Dawn? Drool-worthy! The sexiest BtVS female after the departure of Cordelia.

Hmmm skips until the horrible music where Buffy is affected by the jacket. May I point out that Xander again was right when he said it was the jacket? Flash backs to when he said it was the Lunch Lady the one who wanted to kill the students. (Xander is the one who sees) Yeah"¦ such a stupid arc for him"¦ (I agree. But can you really call it an arc?) The writers say so. They must really hate me.

Anyway, Buffy is being all her Buffy annoying self to make the underage boy her love slave, trying to get Dawn out of her way. Dawn sees her older sister coming on to her 'true love' and runs away crying. The father of the house comes in to comfort the upset child. (Why father?) 'Cause Daddy is kinky.

Xander jumps startled, just like me, when he sees how the writers were degrading Buffy's character. Then he goes all, "Now get off the boy, Buffy. We're going home." God, Xander is taking the father role way too seriously. Makes you wanna see Anya spit on his face for putting her through all that pain, because certainly this guy will not turn out like his father.

Anyway, Dawn and Buffy have a fight. Buffy looks cute in that short skirt. And then Xander and Spike go to talk to RJ's brother. They have a cute awkward moment while they wait for RJ's supposedly handsome brother to open the door. Spike is so quiet!!! Talk man! Talk!

Anya and Willow just finished having sex, and Willow hurries to open the door 'cause Anya asked her for her hand. Poor Willow, who is in love with Anya, is just a little insecure about the whole thing for no one knows if it was just Anya trying to avenge her crushed pride and leave Xander's best friend standing at the altar. She's an export in vengeance anyway. However, Willow didn't know that the real reason for Anya asking for her hand was"¦ (Ehm!!!!!! What the hell is that?!) *nervous chuckle* my f/f muse is kicking. Ew!!

Horrible music can be heard! Willow and Anya are affected. All four women fight over the not so attractive high school student. Buffy thinks they're all affected except her 'cause she's the slayer. Superior much. All try to prove their love to RJ, except mope-y Dawn. Buffy will kill the principle. Hehe. Anya will steal for him. Willow will turn him into a girl until The Father of The House comes in to scold at the kids. He stops Willow from doing the spell and order her to lead them to Buffy, Anya and Dawn.

The Father of The House's boyfriend stops Buffy from killing Wood. I really hate Spike in this ep. He doesn't want to stay at Xander's, he's all silent, and he stops Buffy from killing Wood!!!

Buffy and Dawn have a touchy moment later. Spander saves the day is the cutest way EVER!! As they run with the jacket of love. Sigh everyone.

My throat is all dry. I talked way took much. Because this ep is so much fun. I really love it, but (the idea has been done before) yeah, so"¦ less points. Sorry. The Spander parts are the only thing that gives this ep a high rank.

8/10

I laughed so hard when Principal Wood was sitting in his office and in the background you can see Buffy with the rocket launcher and then Spike tackling her.:biggrin3:

However, it's not as good an episode as a few preceding it, imo, such as Selfless.

Okay, so how has nothing disasterous happened due to the jacket before? You would think that if it's being going on for awhile that it would have been bought to someones attention before? And if the older brother went to Sunnydale then why weren't Cordelia, Buffy and Willow in love with him then? Major MAJOR plot hole in my opinion.

True, but still an enjoyable episode imo
This one is a favorite of mine. It is hilarious and cute at the same time. Plus Dawn in it is perfect. It kind of reminds me of Buffy season one type episodes but Dawn's turn. This one is a good one.

I don't love this episode, it's just okay in my eyes, but I do think it's hilarious in parts. My favorite moment is definitely Spike and Buffy fighting over the rocket launcher!

I admit I laughed out loud at this episode,e specially Willow's "I can work around it!" line.

But, yeah, beneath the laughs it was kind of cheesy. I assume it was almost meant to be, a kind of sly parody of Season 1 cheesiness.

I give it an 8/10 for the laugh factor. And for seeing Buffy getting it on with someone who didn't suck blood.

Nice comment about Buffy. I LOL'd :P
Like Taake, I do think Him is funny in parts, but I just don't like this episode that much.

I guess I'm just not a fan of reusing plots. It's funny that they did have a throwback line to Bewitched, Bothered, & Bewildered, but still. Too similar and the latter was far more funny.

Aaahhh, the letterman's jacket. I am picturing myself in my flag girl uniform in high school, wearing my boyfriend's jacket (OK, not a football player, but lettered in track & field and was considered cool, LOL). 🙂 Fond memories....

Anyway, I'm one of the few that enjoy Him. It's not on my list of best episodes, but it makes me laugh, and that's not a bad thing.

Doesn't Oz mention the A Summer Place theme (that plays when the girls see RJ in his jacket)? And Buff is awful hypocritical when criticizing Dawn's clothing choices- remember her shirts-on-a-string that she wore especially in season 4? No wonder Riley fell so hard for her.

Anyway, I laughed so hard at the split-screen/Charlies Angel's scene, and Spike tackling Buffy outside Wood's office. I disagree with Saturn though, as the best quote is Xander: "Yeah, welcome to the hellmouth, where even outerwear isn't safe."
or "Now get off the boy, Buffy. We're going home"

Love all the Spander interaction. And Spike turning the angel figurines away from him, LMAO, that was a funny little Spike moment.

I love how Xander looked when he busted RJ and Buffy making out. He looks all serious and angry and just... so manly. Loves it!
