NEW MOON RISING

The Good;
Oz is back and not before time, it's all wonderful. No matter how big a Tara fan you are you've got to adore the Willow/Oz goodbye scene

The Bad;
The werewolf makeup still stupid, thankfully the last time we'll see it.

Best line;
Riley; "No sir, I'm an anarchist"

Women good/men bad;
Oz's jealousy of Willow/Tara brings out his more animal nature.

Jeez!;
The Initiative experimenting on Oz

Kinky dinky;
Riley has now acquired a double bed and Buffy now sleeps in one of his shirts. Buffy imagines that Willow and werewolf Oz have had sex?

Calling Captain Subtext;
Buffy's reaction to the news of Will and Tara is a little freaked, interesting that she'll later vent on Riley due to his anti-demon stance (hasn't told him about Angel yet). Compensating through guilt? Buffy remarks about the uncontrollable nature of love, pressaging her relationship with Spike. Spike notes that Buffy is a 'whiny little thing' but always wins. So what exactly do Willow and Tara get up to when the candle goes out? Only fanfic can tell! That said Willow never says to Oz 'We can't be together any more because I'm gay', in fact she seems to hold out the offer that they could possibly get back together if circumstances changed so more bi than gay. Xander obviously glad to see Oz back.

Guantanamo Bay;
Riley finally rebels against the Initiative

Scoobies to the ER;

Where's Dawn?
What's Dawn's attitude to Oz? I suspect she was a fan although she also loves Tara.

Missing scenes;

Apocalypses; 5,
Wheldon Cliches (with kind permission from Boo)

Questions and observations;
The entrance of Connor Farrell, a great actor from Sex and the City, From the Earth to the Moon and especially an obscure old series I used to enjoy called Dark Skies (anyone else remember it? they used to show it very late on C4, basically history from a UFO conspiracists POV). In case anyone doesn't know William Boroughs wrote surrealist novel The Naked Lunch and accidentally shot his wife through the head. Adam was a Boy Scout. So, a werewolf CAN control it's impulses? Maybe Buffy and co should tell Nina that on Angel? (wouldn't you love Oz to turn up in Angel S6/Buffy S8?) Now according to Keith Toppings book the events of 5x5 occur AFTER this ep. Willow and Tara discuss Miss Kitty. Last mention of Devon. Anya displays her computer skills for the first time. McNamara is the name of Kennedy's defence secretary who is widely blamed for the failure of the Vietnam War and who died just this week.
On my 2009 Buffy calender there's a great picture of Tara and Oz with Willow in the middle. Tara's holding Willow's arm and Will's looking at Oz who looks as if he's about to form an expression as if to say "Sorry babe, I'm with her". I don't think it's a scene from the show but it's a peach of pic.
Marks out of 10; 8/10

Am I going to cry now or what? Willow's and Oz goodbye scene, oh it's just so sad 🙁 I cry everytime. First I've lost Bangel then Woz 🙁

It's nice to see how Oz's triger is Willow. He and Angel have that in comon, because his triger is Buffy 🙂

I so love this episode, but I hate the fact Oz left 🙁

10/10

Huh, the werewolf makeup was much better here than in s2, much more realistic.
I'd give the ep 7/10. It was great to see Riley finally see sense and see it how the scoobies see it. I wasn't really into the whole negative reaction causes werewolfness, it spoils the full moon thing a bit, it was all too sciencey(even though i love science)

I love Oz. He's a great character. But I like Willow and Tara together better (enough so that I could never like Kennedy even if she wasn't really annoying) so I was glad that was what Willow chose. I kind of wish Oz had still stuck around though.

I think that Dawn wouldn't even be in the picture to have an opinion of Tara, since she's living with Joyce at home. Really the "Where's Dawn?" thing should only apply to every season besides this one because Buffy is almost never home in this one.

Despite being a kinda Tillow fan, I can't lie that the WillOz break up scene was so sad! But I never thought Oz was a bad guy. It was just a lot of bad situations that tore that relationship apart.

Oh, and the best line ever was Tara saying "Do what makes you h-happy." It was seriously the best line ever delivered ever.

Agree with the best line. I think it's the best Tillow scene too. :)
I love this episode. I'm more Tillow than Woz. But Woz was a beautiful 'ship so it's kinda sad.

Oz promised he wouldcontrol his wolf side, and he could do it. But he still couldn't do it completely as you saw in the episode. So he left again. He's the sweetest guy on earth. And Tara's so sweet too. She was ready to lose Willow if that means Willow would be happy. Willow was so lucky to met them.

I love the scene when Oz met Tara in the campus. He got jealous and turned into his werewolf form.

Buffy abd Riley scene was cute. When he said evil is evil thingy and she kept pouting and arguing. Then they went to bed together and she's still pouting when she woke up. 😀 I'm glad that Riley went to help Oz. I'm glad that he doesn't take order and be himself eventually. 😉

.

My point is that Dawn would definitely have known Oz and would undoubtedly have met Tara many times prior to season 5 as her remarks in The Real Me prove

I was sad Oz wasn't coming back. I liked his character and him departing again(for good) sucked! Aside of that there were some neat moments, like Oz meeting Tara and her talking uncomfortably. She's really shy and sweet. One of the few characters I just can't dislike ever on the show. Ending was sad. Oz and Willow always give us really sad moments on screen =/

Sad but touching and it held out that one day they might be together

I love Tillow!!! The scenes with Tara are so cute. Rewatching, it seemed like this episode was more about Briley than Tillow or Woz. I'm not sure why... they just seemed to be dominant. Tara finding Oz in Willow's room was so sad. As was Willow's visit to Tara later.
There were some implications, though, that had Oz been able to control his wolfiness, Willow may have chosen him. There was a sort of tone to that, but I'm steadfastly refusing to believe it. Oz and Willow just can't be.
