Buffy Fading Away?

I've been noticing a trend lately concerning iur favorite vampire slayer and her associates. They're getting harder to find. Fox has cut back showing the reruns from Monday thru Friday to weekends, and there are no new paperback books being published. Both "Buffy" and "Angel" magazines have ceased publication. Now, granted, there's a whole new series of graphic novels based on the Buffy characters, with another one based on the Angel show coming out in just a few days, but, let's face it, a lot of fans still consider graphic novels to be somehow only suitable for children, and have no intention of reading them, regardless of who writes the stories.

I know that us hard core fans will take Buffy in any form available, even gum wrappers if it came down to hat, but do you think the majority of the fans have moved on to something else?
 
Angel and Buffy re-runs ? I've never seen an Angel re-run, the Buffy re-runs stopped part way through season one when the Sydney Olympic Games started.
Have most the fans gone elsewhere ? A look at the numbers on sites from years gone by then compared to todays numbers shows a decline in numbers.
I write a bit a fanfic, I've noted that the numbers of views have dropped considerably, course that maybe because the stories aren't what's wanted, if that's the case then say something.
Take a look at the art, if its liked there's a lot of comments, if not there's not many comments.

These comments are for all readers, they are not directed at ' white avenger '.
 
I dont know many fans, but im sure there are some who really just have given up or moved on. But i think that there missing on whats left of buffy, and its pretty good. I had never really thought about how far i would go for it, but now that i think about it, i would get it in gum wrappers if thats how it was, SO i think there are just as many hard core fans as there is that have moved on,
Lets just hope for the best, and that buffy and its fans keep strong
 
There are angel re-runs here in the usa.
I will always be a huge Buffy fan and stick by it. But I have seen a major decline, as everyone else has. It's sad. I hope that Buffy season 8 really keeps Buffy's name alive.
 
Well people do go in and out of phases, but I don't see how if you like something, you can stop liking it. There will always be fans of this show, it was a legend. Plus, look at this no, a fan site with thousands of members. We can't limit our fans to what we see on the internet and t.v. There are fans everywhere world wide and I bet a lot of them don't have a computer. So, I think there will always be plenty of fans, we just don't know them.
As for the cut backs on t.v, Buffy is an older show, so it has to be cut back. Even though it was popular, new shows come in and they can't stop playing these new show that are currently producing episodes for a show that has ended. I've seen around on a channel called Razor here in Canada. So, at least it's not cut off from us.
 
Does it really matter if a long-canceled show starts getting shown less? I mean, come on. There are DVDs. A majority of the fans own them. No show stays in reruns forever, and it's not a big deal. Pretty soon there won't be any new Buffy merchandise but for now there are comics and a potential spin-off for Giles, so I don't really care. It's not like the show will ever be totally forgotten.
 
buffy used to be on every morning at the same time as angel. i would wake up, shower, and get dressed while watching the shows. i would flip between shows on commercial breaks.

however, about 2 months ago they stopped playing buffy. thankfully angel is still on.

its sad to think that people will forget about buffy over time, but there are still a ton of us fans out there that will watch it forever!

forgive me for mentioning this, but dont forget that the OMWF traveling musical was cancelled :-( i was very sad at this news.

but, when one door closes, another will open. now we have the buffy comics (which are fan-tastic) and in about a week we will have the angel comic.

and on a lighter note, joss whedons fanbase is "snowballing" into a huge mass of snow with every show he creates. lets keep that in mind when he comes out with "dollhouse." i know ill be watching!!!!!
 
If Joss keeps creating shows I'm even more OK with Buffy fading away as far as it being on TV is concerned. I mean, I have all the DVDs, I watch them fairly regularly, and the DVDs still sell well, so I really could care less if it's airing in syndication or not.

Anyway, I'm quite looking forward to "Dollhouse". I think it sounds amazing. And I hope Joss does more TV work, too, I would love to see three Joss Whedon shows on the air at the same time again. 🙂
 
Eh, i don't care about dollhouse, for the main reason that i want more Buffy/angel/firefly.
I got addicted to them i don't want another show that has nothing to do with them i want more
of what i already love!! Plus, if this does well and stays on for a long time, that kills any chance of more
angel/spike, and if it does poorly then thatreally hurts joss and his chances of ever getting another buffy/angel/firefly
up and running. I can see how everyone thinks this is great that he has a new project , but in my eyes it's terrible 🙁
 
I don't know about Buffy and Angel on TV, but I think the fandom right now is stronger than it has been for a long time (since Not Fade Away).
 
Here in Ireland Buffy and Angel are on every afternoon and evening on different channels. Somedays there can be up to 5 or 6 episodes of the shows on between 4 channels, thats more than Friends!! Boxsets are released every few years, the comics are the biggest selling graphic novels at the moment and the fanfiction is still coming!! plus sites like this! I can't see Buffy ever really dying.I mean I know when I have kids that I'll have them watching the dvd's. Just like the show..in every generation...one dies another will follow!!(just forget about the whole 'Chosen' thing')
