Buffy, Faith the the Deputy Mayor

After Buffy and Faith murdered the deputy mayor. What I was wondering about is, after the police talked to Buffy and Faith about the murder of the deputy mayor and almost charged them, why didn't they charge them, or continue investigate them? Did the mayor have a hand in it? What exactly did you do? he knew it was them. What happened 'behind the scenes'? What did they tell to the media? Or was it the Council who pulled the strings?

I think as soon as Faith joined him, he did something to protect his new associée and spiritual daughter (and that's why Faith was only under arrest after he died).

I was just about to say that too! And after Scobro's post, is anybody else now singing "I shot the sheriff/ But I did not shoot the deputy"? Just me then? OK.

Lets remember that the cops in Sunnydale weren't the brightest flowers in the flower pot. I'd probably say the Mayor had something to do with the investigation suddenly going cold.

I agree with Ms Trick. When the Mayor took Faith in, he probably instructed the police to leave Buffy and Faith alone.
