Buffy fandom

It’s not as bad on here as it is on other forums but the worst thing about the fandom in my opinion is how many fans treat Buffy. Over the course of seven seasons she’s wrong from time to time, she makes mistakes, and has very human moments where less than ideal personality traits surface and it can be very difficult to have a well rounded discussion about Buffy Summers with many fans because too many will die on the hill that Buffy is always right.

The only thing I really know about the fandom is this board, so that’s my favorite. This place is a special place where opinions are tolerated and discussion is encouraged.

I’ve heard there’s a lot of toxicity in other parts of the fandom, so I’d say that would be my least favorite.

Fandom can be toxic and it taints my love for the show sometimes. It makes me regret that time when i was in my bedroom watching Buffy alone ! Things were a lot simpler !

Still there is also a lot of positive things on being in a fandom. That’s precisely why I’m still here because I feel confortable here in this board.

My favorite thing about the fandom is the friends I've met and the bonding we have done as a result of our favorite show.

My least favorite thing about the fandom is the die-hard Bangel 'shippers who refuse to admit that Buffy loves Spike.

Same problem as all fandoms: the toxic shippers that seem to go out of their way to ruin it for everyone else (and in extreme cases try to destroy other accounts, or even threaten an actor or actress, etc), and will find a way to push it (and strike at rivals, even possible rivals, to their ship) in about any thread, even when it had nothing to do with it (and then other toxic shippers come to fight them there and the actual thread is lost, destroyed by the shipping wars). That doesn't seem to be much of a problem here, though. (EDIT: not saying all shippers are toxic, the non-toxic ones don't bother me.)

My favorite is finding new and better headcanon as well as ways to interpret how magic works, the soul, the gypsy's end plan with that curse (putting a lot more thought into than the writers ever did), and sometimes group watches.

I've been awed by a few explanations (of character or how things work), rewrites, and even (I kid you not) calculating the time difference between Earth and Ken's Hell dimension so they could determine how long the portal that they climbed out of remained open (apparently about a single second on Earth, luckily time moved MUCH slower in Hell which is how they managed it).
