Buffy Gay???

I honestly think that would have been an interesting possible twist in the series. Its not soooo far fetched

Buffy and Faith perhaps?? They had some bad girl chemistry

What does everyone think??
 
I definitely felt the chemistry between her and Faith (well, Faith>Buffy anyway - I'm not so sure it was reciprocal, though I like to think so), but other than that I think Buffy's pretty straight. That said, she does have a one night stand (or two?) with another Slayer in the S8 comics. This feels quite out of character to me, but to be fair I haven't actually read it.
 
I think it would have been gimmicky had they gone that route. At first I balked at the storyline because Buffy really does come off as exclusively heterosexual. But after thinking about it, I fully understood why Buffy would sleep with a woman. She simply wanted to feel a connection to someone who loved her. I think for Buffy to have feelings for Faith, Faith would have to love Buffy...and I don't think Faith necessarily loves Buffy.

Anyway as far as Buffy's sexuality is concerned...sexuality can be (and needs to be) measured on a spectrum. Buffy isn't gay, and she isn't bi, but she isn't completely straight. I think on the Kinsey scale, Buffy would probably be a 1.5.

I think there is some truth in the theory that Faith was/is in love with Buffy.

Remember what The First said to Faith? That he thought that she had always wanted Buffy to love her. I'm sure others have more to say on this (I'm not as familiar with their dynamic - Spuffy is my main interest) but a lot of talk has gone on here regarding Faith's love for Buffy.
 
I like my Buffy bisexual like me! Of course I am 55% lesbian, 45% hetero.

Buffy on the other hand seems straight but open minded, willing to try anything, and more about making a connection than trying to fit a mold or identify herself in a certain way. I mean, she HAS been with two vampires, one of which didn't have a soul when she started sleeping with him.

The writers say it is cannon that Faith was in love with Buffy. They wrote lesbian subtext to the Fuffy scenes. Eliza played the character being attracted to Buffy because the writers told her to but would go even farther with it and they never told her to reel Faith in.

That FE quote was "Deep down you always wanted Buffy to accept you, to LOVE you even. Why do you think that is?" And Faith gets flustered and says, "What are you, a shrink now?" I thought it was always very telling that one of the first things Faith does in Buffy's body is get naked and touch herself in the tub.

I could of easily seen Buffy and Faith getting together. I'm actually surprised it never happened. But then the networks would have NEVER allowed it. They couldn't even get that kiss on the lips in Enemies allowed and had to change it to the forehead. Fuffy kisses/sex would've been like Spuffy S6 mixed with the cemetary kisses and fangasm from the Bangel romance. Tara and Willow would've been blushing.

I completely believed Buffy would have sex twice with Satsu. That relationship was about the people involved and not about "being bicurious" or wanting the "lesbian, gay-type lovin". There was mutual respect, admiration, trust, comaderie, need, etc. Buffy needed to feel loved, needed the physical release that comes from sex, and wanted to pretend during the hours they were in bed together that she was in love when they both knew--even before they kissed--that she wasn't.

Buffy was always supportive of Willow being gay. She welcomed Tara into her life, gave Willow advice on the Oz-or-Tara situation, let her babysit Dawn, defended her to the Maclay men, invited her to her birthday parties, let her live in her house, smiled when she saw Tillow kissing and even gave them permission to forgoe Trio research so they could continue their sexathon.

I completely agree with everything you said here. I have to admit, I was really surprised that Buffy and Faith never hooked up. Even back then you could tell that Buffy was drawn to Faith and cared about her. I especially agree about what you said about Faith and the bathtub scene...
I always found it a little heartbreaking for Faith that Buffy never reciprocated her feelings. It was obvious in the beginning that they both respected each other and cared deeply for the other. Maybe it was the Slayer connection, but I feel it was deeper than that. Perhaps if Faith had never spun so far out of control it could have happened. But as far as now I think there's too much water under the bridge.
 
It might have been interesting in Season 3 to have had Buffy and Faith wake up in bed together with raging hangovers after that night that they were dancing in the Bronze, with no memory of how they got there or what had happened the night before. Done properly, it could have been either hilarious, provocative, or both. It would have most certainly affected their relationship from that moment on.

Especially if Faith decided to cash in on it. She could just look at Buffy and smirk anytime she wanted to send her into a stuttering, stammering fit. They could have drug it out for the rest of the season, even after Faith turned evil.
 
Ummm... I thought Joss said the subtext between Faith and Buffy was entirely unintentional?
I've read that several times on several different sites.

I agree with crazysoulless very much. Buffy doesn't even think if she's straight or bi. She is open minded and she was/is naturally attracted to Faith. And about the thing with Satsu, I don't think it's an experiment. She really likes her as a person and she was lonely.

I seem to remember reading someplace that he said that he never noticed the attraction between the two Slayers until someone pointed it out to him, but that once that happened, it was very obvious almost every time the two girls were on screen together.
 
Personally I always saw Buffy as straight. Even when I was watching season 3 I never suspected anything between Faith and Buffy. That is because I always saw them as friends and Faith was at that moment one of the two persons(the other was Angel) who could actually understand what being a Slayer means. I always thought them as "opposite friends". Buffy is the more careful one,abiding by the rules, the "good girl" and Faith is the more carefree type, the "want take have":biggrin3: and she teaches Buffy to be like that in "Bad Girls". They could develop a sister bond if Faith stayed with the Scoobies.

And as for the Batsu thing, I do understand she was feeling lonely, and I have heard that Satsu had genuine feelings for her, but I just saw Buffy as straight. It didn't make sense to me. That is just my personal opinion.

I think that bisexuality, for Buffy, is more something she would consider after having experienced a pleasurable realationship with a member of the same sex instead of something that was inherent from the beginning, like her hetero desires.

Before Angel, Buffy never woud have considered being with a vampire. Before Spike, she never would have been with a soulless vampire. Before, Satsu, she never would have been with a woman (though I think that if Faith had pressed the issue she would've).

There were a few signs of the closeness between Buffy and Satsu pre-WATG. While Buffy was training Slayers she had her three best (Rowena, Leah, & Satsu *they were the ones that went on the field mission with her*) attack her and quickly defeated them but afterwards she complimented Satsu's hair and asked to see her later. She picked Satsu to be her "moving buddy" to rescue Willow. The other Slayers cutely teased her, knowing fully well that Satsu had feelings for Buffy. There was a nice foreshadowing intercut when she is making her choice "Satsu" and then it switches to those Elementals saying "Goodness yes, grant her access" while supposedly talking about letting Willow hang out in her own mind so she doesn't have to endure Warren's lobotomy.

It is hard to tell with females sometimes when it comes to their sexual orientation. Even if they clearly behave as if they are attracted to males it doesn't neccessarily rule out an attraction or willingness to a same-sex relationship. Females do things that males don't. You'll hardly see male friends holding hands, cuddling in bed, or an assortment of other things that can be taken as platonic affection and companionship or signs of a homosexual bond.
