Buffy? How NAFF is that? And who is Angel?

I put off watching BTVS for many years, dubious as to whether I was going to like it, thinking it was bound to be a bit naff, like the film surely was. In my opinion, though, the film really was a bad advert for the series, because the two could not really be more different. Not only did I think that the series was great, I then went on to watch all of Angel, which was, in it's own way, just as good.
Having watched all the Buffy and Angel seasons, the very strange thing is that I am left feeling like someone has chopped my arms and legs off. Something is missing now. I can't say I have ever felt like this before when a series has ended. Guess they must have had more of an impact on me that I realised when I was watching them. Grief, I wish someone would do more...
Oh well.

I was exactly the same as you, I wouldn't watch Buffy I thought it was a load of crap then I watched it and my first reaction was 'Woah, I've been missing out on something amazing'

I was liek you. I saw the movie when it came out (I was in high school) and thought it was a bit dumb, and actually refused to watch the TV show until I caught the pilot for Angel by accident, and gave the tv show a chance. I'm very glad i did.
If you read the comic book "Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Orgin" it adapts the movie using Joss's orginial script.

I still get all those 'limb lossy feelings' every new Fall season.... wishing there were new seasons to look forward to. I know we have the comics but I can still pine for my fave ever TV shows. 😀
 
I was the same way with Buffy. I remember when it was on and thinking, "why would anyone watch that" although I had never watched one minute of it. Just the thought that vampires were in it turned me off. I never understood what people saw in vampires.

Then last summer I watched an episode out of boredom and curiosity and I was hooked within about 10 minutes. I've now seen every episode of Buff and Angel. I feel so silly for snubbing it while it was on.
