Buffy in a coffin in "Help"

Does anyone else find it strange that Buffy's hiding in a coffin with Xander and Dawn to catch a vamp at the beginning of "Help" ???

Wouldn't you think she'd forever be traumatized by coffins, since she had to claw her way out of one not to long ago?

Just sayin!!

most definately, i never thought about this but you're right!
Yeah, that always struck me as a really bad choice on the writers' part. I mean, it made a cute scene, what with Dawn getting stuck in the children's coffin and all, but Buffy should have at least looked a little jittery when she got out of hers. They could have even had Xander put his hand on her shoulder and ask in an all big brotherly way, "You okay, Buff?" or something equally astute. It would have made the scene more believable.

(For that matter, I doubt that I would be too happy spending time in one of those things, either)

See I always wonder that about Spike too, how she could possibly go back to the face that tried to rape her (yes, yes I know he got his soul and yadda yadda yadda) just a passing thought.

But yeah I would think she would be a little worried by getting back in a coffin!
 
I noticed that too. Maybe it was like a form of therapy, facing your fears or whatever.
 
I thought the same thing, especially since...it would have been just as easy to hide under the skirt around the cart that holds the coffin up...maybe it's just us claustrophobes that notice this stuff, but honestly, I don't think they'd ever get her into another coffin.
 
It is strange but, on buffy's part you have to do the things you hate the most to get things done, she didnt know that this vamp was the worst so you do what you have too.
 
You know, that never occurred to me. Perhaps after the events of season 6, her fear of coffins disappeared. How she embraced life and all that.
 
I prefer to think she finds it cozy...ppffft... Sorry XD


I never really wondered about that. To me it seems like Buffy is the type who just...pulls herself together. She won't allow herself to be weakended. So she sucks it up, and goes down the coffin, focusing on the job. She's the slayer, and if she doesn't go donw the coffin and wait, because she is scared, people may die!

What is the point of discussion if there is no speculations on the why?

To me, I see Buffy as a get over it kinda girl. She's had to do things that any normal person wouldn't generally do and she knows it, so it's quite possible her fear instinct is probably not as strong which allows her to overcome mental obstacles that might hinder her with the job at hand.

Sorry, we over what? Analise? Well, we are all a bit anally retentive as fans, but there's no need to be rude! 😉

I just think you would hide wherever you could to be safe. Even in an infested sewer. Self preservation is an underrated quality, but it keeps your ass safe.
