Anoyed the hell out of me! I'm watching the season on BBC Two and if I have to hear one more emontinal speech I'm gonna scream! Plus her whole I'm in charge attitude towards the end of the season annoys me too. Deserved everything she got at the end of Empty Places.
 
Can't help agreeing with you. There were one too many of those speeches in S-7.

I kind of liked a couple of them though.

I liked the "It's gonna choke on me" speech at the end of Bring on the Night, and I loved the Thunderdome speech that preceded the UberVamp fight in Showtime.

I hated that whole last act of Empty Places. The writer obviously wanted us to be on the side of everyone who was attacking Buffy, but everything Buffy said turned out to be correct. It was an unnecessarily confusing, manipulation of the viewer's emotions.
 
It's annoying, but sometimes nescessairy.

she was incredilby annoying and her "Im the best" attitude made me very angry, but in Empty Places i actually felt bad for her

Yeah, I considered that, actually; that the writer intentionally made Buffy appear weak, lame, and stupid so when the reality of Buffy actually being correct presented itself it would have added power, and make you rethink things.

The problem is I'm not sure it worked. I still see lots of people making comments like "Buffy deserved it", and those of us who noticed Buffy was the smart one, weren't really impressed. Either way I can't help thinking the writers weakened Buffy's impact going into the big fight.

It isn't that the writer's did a bad thing, it's that they did it badly.
 
Yes her attitude in season 7 was a little hard to take, but all leaders have that. When Faith became their leader she acted like Buffy in many ways, and the potentials didn't really appreciate her attitude at the time. So it really wasn't something that she could help. If you were the leader when the world was falling apart and everyone was going to die, would you sit in a big circle holding hands and asking about everyone else's opinion on what to do next?A little harsh, yes, but I can see where Buffy was coming from.
 
Angel had a lot to deal with in season 4 but he wasn't annoying (thank god he didn't give loads of speeches).

Also I don't think it matters that Buffy was right. She was willing to walk back into the place where loads of girls had been killed and Xander lost his eye a few days before with no evidence. A leader doesn't just throw her army into fights just because she has a hunch.
 
Buffy is just different from Angel and she is worse leader than him, but she has her own style and I could understand the way she acted...
 
Buffy was my fave character until season 7 because of her attitude. He ego was showing that season.
 
I think she had the right to make decisions, but she did make (suggest) some bad ones. I for one would have followed her 😉
 
But Buffy doesn't really have the right. The reason she is in charge is because she is the strongest and not because she is the smartest. Angel is in charge of the AI gang not only because he is the strogest but he also has 100+ years more experience than anyone else on the team. I think Giles should have led the war against the First.
 
Well, she definitely could have listened to the others' suggestions more.
 
Also Buffy acted like a real bitch when Faith meets up with her in the graveyard. I know her and Faith don't get on but she just came across as a bitch. It was the way she spoke.
 
Point being?... Her reaction comes from her doomed love for Angel. Angel did want to help Faith, but not Buffy. Because they couldn't be together. Buffy took it out on Faith in As1, and the feeling of anger still remained.
