Buffy in "Your Welcome"

I'm a Bangel fan so I'll never say no to more Buffy/Angel screen time 🙂 However I really thought they needed to do the character of Cordy more justice especially after how they left her in season 4. Cordy had been on the show since episode 1 of Buffy so to just leave her in a coma would have been wrong. Also, and I cant believe I'm typing this, its only fair to those Cangel fans that they get some more screen time and closure.

I've just listened to the commentary by David Fury and I was hoping he would have hinted at what the story would have been if SMG had come back but he didnt 🙁
 
As far as I know, they didn't even start to write the story before getting SMG's commitment. I heard that she wasn't particularly happy with the story Joss pitched: Buffy moved on, two souled vampires have to deal with it. Apparently such a twist would cause a strong reaction from both Spuffy and Bangel camps, and SMG didn't want to find herself under a crossfire.

Negociations with Charisma were quite tense, too. She was given another copy of the script in which Cordelia just leaves and she didn't know that her character dies until she saw the episode. She never talked about it directly, but she gave an interview between shooting the episode and its airdate - it's quite telling.

So... I don't know. Maybe SMG was afraid that Joss would do someting similar to Buffy.

Back to the topic: I think that if SMG committed, Buffy would be back in the last shot of the previous episode, not unlike Angel in "End of Days". Then, in the 100-th episode, she'd basically play Cordy's role, and then, in the last scene, she'd play herself in "The Girl in Question".
 
Girl in Question was meant to be completely different apparently....she was meant to be in most of the episode but she refused to do it anyway. Although I enjoy the Girl in Question (its fun and silly) I was hugely disapointed with the lack of any real resoultion. I really had hoped for some good Buffy/Angel screen time, because all of their moments The Yoko Factor, the thanksgiving one, the body, and the chosen and end of days ones were brilliant. I think buffy could have done a job in 'your welcome' but i loved the episode as it was, so I would have left that, and had The girl in question feature more Buffy....
