OK, as you'll see, I had a little time on my hands. Not a serious comic reader or knowledgeable by any means. And I don't really know DC at all. Just throwing out a few thoughts...you might have better ones.
Angel"”sorta like Batman, an angst-ridden, guilt-ridden avenging crime fighter. He's trying to sort of create a new self out of nothing, through his deeds. Also, similar to Bruce Banner. There's a monster inside that he's sometimes powerless to control. He seeks a cure, possible redemption. The beast escapes and rises to the top sometimes.
Buffy"”kinda like Wonder Woman, "gifted by the gods", a chosen one. Separated from the rest of humanity to a degree. Tempermentally, maybe like Kitty Pride?"”a little unsure of herself. A little cynical, self-deprecating at times.
Willow"”The Scarlet Witch is an obvious comparison. Both good guys, went completely berserk, lost control of their powers, altered the lives of everyone around them. In terms of her temperment, I can't really think of a superhero like her. Probably some X-Man... a young Jean Grey? (Who eventually makes way for Dark Phoenix just as Willow goes Dark).
Oz"”The Hulk comes to mind again. Roaming around, looking for a way to quell the beast within and claim a normal life for himself.
Giles"”is Professor X, Charles Xavier. Mentor, head honcho"”but without the self-assurance, and having maybe a little less faith in humanity. And Ethan Rayne would be his Magneto.
Xander"”totally a Peter Parker (if Xands had super powers). I'm talkin' comic book Spidey, not serious, angst-ridden Tobey M. In the comics, Spidey's a total wise guy (in costume), mocking his enemies with smart-ass comments. Also, he can tend to annoy his fellow superheros. Both have had girl troubles and vocational, career issues of course...
Cordelia"”Emma Frost? Nah, not really. Although, maybe...both started out as mean b*tches, later reformed and worked with the good guys. Faith is a bit Emma Frosty in that respect as well, though her arc is a little different. Cordy acquired Doyle's visions and eventual demonhood like the X-Man Rogue acquired more superabilities.
Spike"”Wolverine. A total badass, with a touch of the softie underneath it all. Both rogues, loners to a degree. Both love a good scrap. Both had military experiments performed on them.
Tara"”a bit like the Invisible Woman. Very motherly, protective. Trying to reign in and help Willow like Sue tries to control Johnny and Ben.
Riley"”a Captain America wannabe. He sorta became supersoldier like Cap, but his superserum backfired and almost killed him. Now he's just a white bread do-gooder, military monster killer.
Wesley"”maybe a little like Hank McCoy? Super booksmart, a wise elder on a team, yet not the leader per se. Maybe Dr Strange, with all the mystical knowledge... though Wes didn't manipulate magic all that much.
Gunn"”Luke Cage, hero for hire! I don't know...Luke's a badass product of the meanstreets. Works with a team but is plenty capable by himself. Stays true to his "˜hood, wants to help the helpless around him.
Lorne"”The Dazzler? Both into singing, entertainment. Both reluctantly kinda get into the superhero assistance biz.
Fred"”a brainiac wallflower, hmm...maybe a young Marvel Girl, Jean Grey again. Or, something like a young Moira MacTaggart, normal human, brilliant scientist.
Illyria"”an unstoppable demi-god in her home dimension. Probably like Galactus, devourer of worlds. In her weakened, earthly state, more like The Vision or The Silver Surfer. Alienated, slowly learning about humanity"”still fairly powerful.
Lilah"”here we have our evil Emma Frost (without the powers). She tries to recruit folks to her cause like Emma would.
Anya"”A reformed baddie, now a team member. Kinda like the Silver Surfer (and Illyria) in that humanity is a little mysterious to her. Also, she was sort of a (willing) slave to Vengence Demonhood as the Surfer was a slave to Galactus.
