Buffy Issue #19 delayed until November 12th!

Uh oh!

Release date on the Dark Horse website has changed from October 1st to November 12th.

Issue 20 is set to be released December 3rd and Issue 21 will be released two weeks later, on December 17th.
 
!! WTF ?? I'm dying to find out about DW and Fray and everything ! That's just plain mean !

This is the worst! The suspense is already killing me...I can't wait another month!

Well, at least we get Issue 21 early, right?
 
That sucks! I was looking forward to the conclusion of the Fary arc 🙁 Well, at least the Harmony issue wasn't pushed to 2009.
 
Haven't you folks heard the old saying about anticipation makes the cake taste sweeter? Over my long and fascinating life, I have learned to just sit back, relax, contemplate the eventual reward, and recite every single word of profanity that I have learned in 61 years while plotting terrible vengeance on the perpitrator of the delay. It works every time.

yea but what if it turns out to be really stupid then I'll be like I waited for this?
While im sad I can deal with it since it doesnt happen very often if at all with Buffy. They are allowed the occasional delayed issue.

Allie then turned the attention of the panel to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He mentioned that issue #19 is the first issue set to be tragically late, “due out in about six weeks.” Jeph Loeb’s one-shot issue #20 tells a story that places Buffy in the framework of the Buffy animated series that never came to fruition.

The arc following Loeb’s one-shot is being written by several of the TV show’s writers. “Vampires come into vogue, we check in with Faith, Giles, Kennedy, Satsu, and Andrew, and we see further development for Dawn.”

The first cover of the upcoming arc features Harmony the vampire, who has become a reality TV star.

Unfortunately the comic industry is traditionally plagued with delays. We should really just be grateful this doesn't happen more often with BTVS:S8. Generally speaking, chronic delays are the fault of bad editors, though sometimes the personal lives of creators can get in the way (i.e. family emergencies).
 
Come to think of it wasn't the original Fray plagued with delays. Seems to me there was lots of talk of it in the letters section. I know I heard it somewhere.

Season 8 should have a Halloween issue... following the Halloween ep placements in the show... 2,4,6....
 
damn. when i heard the news i was deeply saddened. and then i remembered that dark horse did this same thing last summer (i think around issue 5).

this brings me to a point: although i have been an outspoken critic of the angel ATF comic (i think its horrible.....but thats in another thread), IDW at least can get one thing right; and that " one thing" is keeping its fans happy by sticking to the release dates. how can IDW put out angel AND spike comics on time and DH cant get buffy out on time?

i dont know *shrugs shoulders* maybe dh knew that this issue needed some special attention so that it wasnt anticlimactic or had bad painting or something.
 
ZOMG! WTF! I'm pissed! Not because I can't wait for this next issue, I'm just pissed becaus I want this stupid arc to END! Also, the two issues after that looks pretty cool. 🙂
 
I am heartbroken. This was the highlight of my week and it was crushed, which probably means I need to develop some other interests and friends.
 
Yeah, I'm kind of angry about this. Season Eight really isn't the best thing in the world but I have been following the story line and I want to see what happens!

Hey gang,

So sorry for the current delay. Just a few days ago, Buffy #19 should have been on sale, and it is not. We all just slipped -- after a very good stint of getting the book out on time. Was it the magic combination of putting the Fray team back together right when Joss was launching a new TV show that did us in? I'm not saying. But sometimes it all just gets to be more than you can stay on top of, and while we take our commitment to this monthly comic very seriously, we decided we needed to let this issue take its time in order to maintain the quality of the book. That gives us more pride, and you more enjoyment, than its timeliness. And in order to do #19 just right, the page count crept up and up, and we have another 25-pager, that still just costs you a mere $2.99. And with the economy where it is, $2.99 might be harder to come by . . . but it still doesn’t pay for much . . . so it's almost as if we're handing out free comic-book gold!

The good news: Buffy #20 is nearly done, #21 and #22 are all done, and we'll be making up for lost time as soon as we get #19 out.

As for when that will be, we'll post updates online as we get closer; but, please know that the end is in sight. Karl is nearly done, and Andy, Michelle, and Jimmy are the lightning pit crew, so as long as the presses aren't busy flooding U.S. banks with fresh capital, you'll have the book in just a few weeks. On behalf of Joss, Karl, Andy, myself, Sierra, Mike Richardson, President Nixon, Bill Buckner, and the 1986 Mets, we apologize. We'll try to avoid further screwups, but we make no promises we can't keep.
