Buffy Merch & eBay Shenanigans

I could spend hours scrolling & searching through eBay listings for old BTVS merch. It's so entertaining to see some of the very odd official & trademarked items that were made; chewing gum holders, clocks, CD holders, Nokia phone cases & even an easter egg & mug that someone was trying to sell for almost £200?¿? 😦

Sometimes I indulge my want for these random & very useless items, mostly figurines & t-shirts, but I once purchased a shoulder bag for a very small amount of money which I then saw being sold for a very large amount of money the next week. I don't ever use the bag but I don't plan on selling it either ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Does anyone else collect anything like this? If so, what is your favorite piece of merch? I would love to know!

I used to collect a lot of Star Wars stuff (back when there was only one trilogy!). A few things I have are kind of odd: cardboard bookstands, a belt. They might be worth something, but I've never bothered to check eBay!

i have never collected anything unless you count the comics. (after a while I didn't really like htem enough to read, but i have the whole set. I have little else of physical collections other than my DVDs and some books that i mostly got second hand, so they're not worth anything. i made my own scythe out of cardboard and shiny foil.

Buffy-wise, I’ve only purchased the comics via Amazon sellers. The books on my shelf have come all from places such as a Colorado Library and a menagerie of Goodwills. I also own a few novels, as my used bookstore has a great selection of them to choose from.

If I were to collect something Buffy related, I would love to get my hands on some of those Tooned Up statues that they made. Spike, Glory, Buffy, etc. I like the style a lot and think they’re interesting pieces.

I’m a lot like @Stake fodder in that I have a Star Wars collection. Lego sets, lightsabers, a Sabacc deck, etc. The coolest thing that I own that is Star Wars related is a 3-way tie between the Lego UCS AT-AT, a paperback copy of the unpublished “Heart of the Jedi” novel (which was printed for about a week before Disney sent the cease and desist to the guy), and a 1978-9 fantastic hardcover printing of Splinter of the Mind’s Eye (the first Star Wars novel ever written).

I also collect comic books in oversized hardcover format. I think the coolest things that I personally own in that department are The Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1-4 Omnibuses, The New Mutants Vol. 1 Omnibus, and the X-Men Inferno Omnibus, all signed by Chris Claremont on the interior. (Claremont was the one who resurrected the X-Men from failure and basically made them the lucrative property they are today) I paid a pretty penny for Vol. 2 at the time, which contains the Dark Phoenix Saga and a few other iconic storylines, but having the title page with Claremont’s signature overtop of a weeping Cyclops is just…. 😵‍💫😳. It was such a cool experience being able to bring those hardcover tomes to him and meet him while he signed them.

I've only got Buffy Funko pops, some of the comics and Go ask Malice that I got from Amazon. I did use to look at Buffy eBay merch but was worried it may be a bit hit or miss on quality. I did see some Buffy books on Music Magpie that I might pick up.

Oh thats awesome! I used to work in the Lego store near my house & every year for christmas they make an exclusive set just for their employees. The christmas I work there also happened to be the anniversary of their first Lego Star Wars set so the employee exclusive for that year was also Star Wars! I still have it completely unopened because apparently in a few years it'll be worth a lot of money!
