Here's Joss on Sarah appearing in Angel:

Later she said she'd do the finale, knowing Joss didn't want her for the finale.

On 2. It isn't just that Joss does things differently, it's that Sarah knows he does. She didn't publicly ask for a script when she said she'd do Angel.

When Sarah says she expects a script, and she knows she won't get one, I get even more skeptical as to her motives.

On 1. Joss wants to work with the original cast, so he wants to know if they're interested before he begins. Otherwise there's no sense in beginning. As I remember it the Serenity cast were all looking forward to doing a movie, before they were raving about what a great script it was. If you're still counting, that's three things on which I'm basing the idea that Joss wants to see interest before he obligates himself.

And Sarah did say that if she was back in the US int ime she wouldve done the ep she was suppose to be in, but by the time she got back it was already to late to film the episode, thats not really her fault, ofcourse some could think she just said this to get people off her back but I dont think so. And so what if she said she would be in the finale, thats what she had time for, didnt she also say that she wouldnt want the finale to be all about her and the whole love triangle? She couldve made a five minute appearnce and get it over with.

SMG is just her own person and likes to feel comfortable in what she is doing and know she can gain something from it.

She stayed on the show for 7 years, couldve said its over any other time her contract was up. And hey she knew how popular Buffy was but did she ever ask for a raise? or hold out for one? She couldve if she wanted to but didnt.

She didnt ask for a script the first 2 times she appeared on Angel so ofcourse she wouldnt ask for one to appear on Angel one last time, a show and movie are 2 different things in hollywood, even though a tv show can launch you into success it cant really break you as easily as a movie could, and a movie is always looked at more and reviewed much harder sometimes and Sarah is trying to establish a movie carrer so she wants all of her films to be a success and reading a script would help her get the feel of it and if she thinks it would be up to her standards.
 
Sure. She's a Goddess. Nevertheless, I don't believe everything she says, and if you think there's new hope she'll do a Buffy movie based on a statement she makes on a movie promotional tour that she'll consent to read a script it's unlikely will ever be written, my opinion is you need to rethink your optimism.
 
I think of her as a goddess like I think of Joss as a god. I dont have new hope of a Buffy movie, never have. Sure I would like one but im not going to hold my breathe waiting to see one.

The only time I will ever truly believe in a Buffy movie coming out is when I see everyone saying their will be one and know that its going into production.

Yeah I agree Pythagore, everything that needs to be said, has pretty much been said. I'm content to leave it.

Although, you were requesting more support for the idea Joss prefers to know the original cast is interested before he produces a script. I just thought of two more.

There's Buffy animated. As I understand it, in it's present form it's a 7 minute demo. This would mean Alyson, Nick, and Tony have shown their interest before seeing a script. A 7 minute demo is not a conventional TV script.

Then there's Ripper. Both ASH and Joss have been talking about their interest in this project for years, but a final script can't have been produced, because just a month ago or so Joss was in London, and ASH was talking about about having dinner with Joss where they discussed a bunch of new ideas for the script.
 
I forgot where I posted it, but I read an article in the current issue of TV Guide stating that IF and WHEN the Buffy and/or Angel Movies move into production, they will be featuring the supporting cast (i.e. ASH, AH, NB, JM, ED, AA) and not SMG or DB.

I have to scan it when I go home unless someone has a link somewhere.

Well, there is a slight difference - SMG is a lot more famous that the rest of the cast and has gone from doing Buffy to doing a lot of bigger productions.

I'm tempted to say the last thing I saw her in she was the supporting actress to a cartoon dog, but that isn't really the point.

The point is she knows the way Joss operates, and she knows what he's capable of, so if she asks for more, I become suspicious of the statement.

But nevermind 😉
 
If SMG is not ready to go back to playing BUFFY right now, she is not ready. It's her choice . . . her career. I realize that a lot of fans don't like this, but that's the end of it. At least for the moment.
 
I get everyone's point on the whole thing and respect all POVs.

It's just can you just picture her sitting at her desk or something holding out a script for Scooby Doo 3 in one hand and Buffy by Joss Whedon in the other and considering which would be a better film? 😀

lol I dont think so since hasnt she already expressed that she doesnt want to do a SD3 or is it that she and freddy arent signed on to do it and havent yet...I think the only way she will be doing SD3 is if Freddie joins on.
