Buffy MultiPlayer online game announced

See, here's the thing, if this actually goes ahead I'm fairly certain I will get so sucked in and I'll for get about school, work, sleep and life in general.
 
I heard it was going to be a fully 3D game, but it's going to have a 2D Flash counterpart. I'm not really sure how that's going to work, but it sounds innovative.
 
I don't really know to much about these kind of gaming things... but I think I'm going to wet my pants at this announcement.

I may as well tell all my friends and family they can forget about seeing me ever again if this goes through!
 
Buffy MMO

I wasn't sure where this should go, or if it's been talked about yet, or anything, but my friend told me about this, so I looked it up on the internet and decided to share.
They're making a Buffy MMO [Massive Multiplayer online Game, or something like that. 😛]
The Firefly game is getting postponed, and they're apparently working on the Buffy one.
There are a lot of different articles which come up on google, most of them seem to be pesimestic, but who knows.

Zonk brings word that Multiverse, the developer who in 2006 acquired the rights to make a Firefly-based MMO, has announced that a Buffy: The Vampire Slayer MMO is now under development. An interview with Corey Bridges from Multiverse seems to indicate that the Firefly MMO, though delayed, is not dead. He also provides a few details on what the Buffy game will be like. Quoting:
"What we're doing with the Buffy game then is releasing it in stages. It will first be a flash-based virtual world, with the full Multiverse server behind it. ... So it will start as a 2D flash-based MMO where you can go on missions and interact with other players. This will extend even once we have the 3D client working, where you can both interact with players using the other point of view. We're going to have these shared spaces where 2D and 3D people can interact. All of this will come out in phases, with staged gameplay coming out. We're sort of blazing a path with this concept, and we're really interested in what this might mean for players of the two versions. ... I'd love to get [a public beta] out to players by the end of the year."

Yeah, I'm the same. Not sure if I'll play it, but it's good that they're still thinking of new things.

Okay, I'm a pretty hardcore gamer, especially MMO's and I like the idea I really do.
But I think it's about as likely to actually be released as an MMO about cheese (which, if you didn't get my point, is very unlikely.)
If it came out I would probably play, or at least try it out but I'm not really expecting great things from BtVS games...Chaos Bleeds was frankly a bit naff (although for some reason I have completed it twice 😵)

What MMOs do you play?
I think the people that are making the game have already come out with a demonstration of what the game will be like. It's not a Buffy demonstration, it's just a short game where you play a warrior battling another warrior or something. Let me see if I can find the link...

Multiverse (it's the "Battle" game)

Anyway, it's kinda like WoW, if WoW had been made in like 1997 and crossed with Street Fighter. It doesn't suck, but it's probably not what most people think of when they think "mmorpg" these days.

Some of the previews of other games they're doing don't look too bad, but they look kinda... I dunno... simple? That's not the word I'm after, but it'll do. In the end, the games they're making are intended to be shared, like socially, as fun social apps that people can play together in a browser. They are not hulking, immersive mmorpg's like WoW or somesuch.

I will still probably still want to play it and see what it's like, when they finally get around to putting it out, whenever that is (if ever).
 
Friendly Lurker - I usually play WoW, but play a little City of Heroes/Villains and well, I've pretty much tried out every MMO there is even Tabula Rasa (which only lasted about 6 months lol).
 
I just recently joined WoW (about 6 months ago) and love it =P I'm so into gaming now, bring on the Buffy MMO!!
