Buffy on Broadway

Does anybody know if there has ever been any talk of adapting OMWF for Broadway? I've been listening to the soundtrack lately, & a stage production would be so awesome! In fact, I'd vote for that before a reboot anyday, especially if Joss was involved in some way. I'd even be OK without the original cast, I mean Broadway productions can go on for a long, long time, using constantly changing cast members. Besides, they'd want to use professional singers & I'm sure it would sound awesome. It'd be real cool though if at least 1 or 2 cast members would reprise their roles. I vote for Amber Benson! Of course it's not long enough so they'd have to add musical numbers & more scenes, but I'd be OK with that too, as long as the main story doesn't change. And why would it have to?
 
During Palyefest Joss said that he does think about taking Buffy to the stage but he said it wouldn't be OMWF, he said that is too specific and isolated. If Buffy was going to Broadway it would be a total reboot. I'd much prefer that than the reboot we are getting. 🙂

You, Miss K, are high! Seriously. No. No. You think the movie and comics are bad? I dont really mind Spiderman because it is kinda colorful and what not anyway, but I cant imagine Buffy.

I say Nay! OMWF was fantastic. As was Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog. I have a lot of criticism for Whedon, but the man knows how to make wacky musicals work. I think it would be, at the very least, an idea that bears consideration.

It would also make a fantabulous meet up event. Just saying 😉
 
But I dont think he would really be in charge of a musical.. maybe oversee and advise but he has never (to my knowledge) sniffed in the direction of Times Square so there would be no way he would make it.
 
Wasn't there something a while ago about some theater group wanting to put on a show of OMWF, but Fox told them to shut it down days before the event? Maybe if Joss or the network was involved it would be fine, but I don't see it being Broadway and I don't think it would be the major event you seem to be thinking about. If OMWF ever hit the stage in any capacity, I think it would be something like a fan event, catered for people like us.

I think Kean's right (when do I ever not think she's right? lol) if BtVS ever hit the stage, be it Broadway or not, I think it would be something completely new. And if Joss is at the helm, I'm sure it would be great.
 
I don't think they need to try to put Buffy on Broadway. OMWF was a great little treat for the fans, but I don't think they need to try to make it more than what it was; you don't mess with greatness. 🙂

A fan endeavor? But didn't we already have that with the Buffy Sing-along? http://uncoolkids.com/buffy/ That of course got shut down by Fox. They should've known a good thing when it was happening. 🙁 Personally I think they should've continued with the charity screenings (like the Serenity screenings still going on today http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/).

I'd take a different Buffy musical if it were by Joss. And yes I'd prefer that to the current reboot. And when I say "by Joss" he doesn't have to direct it or even write it, just have some involvement. I'm sure he could find fabulous writers and directors. He didn't write nor direct every episode of BTVS/ATS/Firefly etc.
