Buffy: One More Season...

I think they should have done one more season... But focused more on the lives of everyone, rather than the fighting... I think theres so much closure that never really happened... I kind of feel like I was robbed of something...

Does anyone else agree with me?

One more season of what? BUFFY? ANGEL?
 
Well, I agree about the closure, for the characters. But I don't think another season would have helped, really. I'm "glad" it ended when it did. Well, I'm sad it ended but I very much doubt it would have been as good if it continued. Just looking at season 7.. hm.. Naah, one more season wouldn't have helped in my opinion, I'm afraid it would have made it "even worse" (not my intention to sound like I hated the end or anything).
 
Buffy went out at the right time, imo. It came full circle, tradition, council, and the old ways of fighting the war were eradicated and ushered in a new era. No better way to end a series as grand as Buffy imo.
 
Yea... I get what you are saying... About the traditions... and the council etc... But that all has to do with the fighting...

I don't know... I guess there was just something missing to me...
 
The old ways of fighting that were eradicated was set up by the three men who offered Buffy more power in Season 7, when they created the First Slayer.

Yeah I realize that.... Hence the etc.... But I'm saying that there were other things besides all the fighting etc that didn't really get any closure... I, being an avid Tara/Willow fan... Would have possibly liked Kennedy if they developed it more... I was just disappointed...
 
I agree with you, I feel cheated. This huge universe was created and by the time it ended we had little closure on what would happen to the characters living in it.
 
Maybe not another season, but the finale should've been a two parter to include the fighting and another hour to give EVERY character closure. By every I mean Xander, Dawn, Giles and every character who didn't get any closure.
 
My biggest complaint about the season finale was that it was just one hour. The final ever episode of Buffy should have been a two-hour, blow-the-doors-off extravaganza, with everything thrown in including the bloody kitchen sink.

Another season.... I'm not sure about that. I love the show and miss it a lot, but the quality was starting to slip. Joss Whedon stated that, even if SMG had stayed, season seven would have been his last, due to exhaustion. If he hadn't been around, the vision of the show would have been compromised. It was better it ended when it did rather than become a shallow mockery of itself, like many other shows that outstayed their welcome.

Yea... I know that an 8th season won't ever happen... It's nice to dream... But there needed to be something... I know that Joss felt he exhausted the idea of BTVS, but he left things open... I think the idea of a second part to the finale would have been a good one... Ending a Season with actual happiness, not just success... Because sure everyone was happy they won, they beat the First... But I don't think anyone ever really acheived true happiness. Seriously... they lost everything. How can you really be happy about that?
 
Your missing the point of the series, it was never about being happy. And it shouldn't end with EVERYONE being happy. Everyone's character coming full circle, yes that should've happened, but happiness was never part of the Joss equation. The whole point is "life goes on", Joss himself knows that life is not full of happy endings, it's full of struggles and the series finale is going to symbolize that. And it's not like the ending was depressing and they didn't lose everything, I mean yeah Sunnydale was destroyed, but it was on top of the Hellmouth and I'm sure Buffy knew that was going to be part of the battling The First deal. And I would say that at least Willow got somewhat a happy ending, she became all goddess like for a couple minutes and was the only one who left the series in a relationship. But yeah, not meant to be overly happy, that's not Joss's vision.

Okay, well we have a different opinion on happiness... Because I know that the point was not happiness in the series. I guess I should have elaborated on the fact that finding yourself (coming full circle), being with the one you love, succeeding in something... Those are all causes for happiness too... I'm not going to say that everyone should have their soulmates and be madly in love at the end of the series... Just should acheive some sort of happiness... And closure, dealing with everyones "demons" would help that.

Another season would not have been good. I think it should have ended sooner, though I'm glad it didn't.

It got a bit worn through towards the end, as much as I still loved it.
 
Definantly not another season. It ended well But I feel cheated as well. The final should have been a two parter indeed. First half being the big show down which could possibly carry onto Part 2. But then have Part 2 focused on the characters themselvs and give everyone closer. Like show where they went to. Did they go their seperate ways? Did Wood and Faith get hooked up? They could have gone to timbuctu for all we know lol. So I loved it if they showed where their characters started their lives after that, what all did they start doing, where did they go, what were they going to do for the rest of their lives now that they destroyed The First Evil?
 
I agree... I mean... Giles mentioned that there was another Hellmouth in Cleveland... And it would have been nice to see Buffy have that normal life that she always wanted...
 
I agree with you the final should have been a 2 parter.
It was nothing special about it, when I've watched it I just feelt like, was this it, it was like any other great Buffy episode (that's indeed not bad) but I wanted something special, something extra from the final.

I wouldn't wanted a 8S, after all it ended as great as it could possibly have ended.
I haven't seen the last seasons of Angel (here in Sweden they've just started showing the first episode) but there you find out what happens to the lot.
I like that they don't tell you ecxactly everything that happens to them, that means I can use my imagination and make my own perfect ending...
I think it would have ended to happy if Anya and Spike hadn't died, it haden't been Buffy without anyone dying. And the beautiful death of Spike aaah.. He died as the truly hero he was.
 
I agree. We all miss Buffy, but its kinda like every show has a certain time period that works (and it seems most shows time is 7 seasons...) and it would make the show suck if it went beyond that point. You know? It would have become "Old Lady the vampire slayer" but that's just in my opinion. (not saying buffy was old, but she was getting oldER)
 
Another season I have to agree would have not been the way to go!

In fact I have to admit that I started to read The watchers council and found it to be a great spin-off, only wished it was real. I got closure on the Tara/willow stage and now I am quite happy with Rowena although I feel they could give more info on the two of them at times. More story time, etc.

I just think that a finale episode as well would have been nice, to just see where they go from there, i.e. were do they live? How do they deal with losing so many friends? Kennedy and Willow do they have what it takes to have a real relationship, always felt it was so superficial, like willow was just "using" her, for a want of a much better word, to get closure on Tara and never really fell for her. That was the impression i got from the show at least!
