In the episode "I Will Remember You" do you think if they hadn't turned time back Buffy might become pregnant from that day they spent together?

Wow, it's all coming together now... what an eye-opener... yet kind of creepy too. In an odd freakish sort of way... it does make sense that Dawn could be the result from that one episode. :rolleyes0

how does that work? She'd be 1yo at the start of s.5 and the whole key thing would be wrong...

Well actually (since the airdates are the only real thing we have to go on):

"I Will Remember You" - Original Air Date: 11/23/99

&

"Buffy vs. Dracula" - Original Air Date: 09/26/00

Those two eps are 10 months and 3 days apart.

Could work out....

Yeah but how does something that is undead, create life? Putting the whole Darla/Angel thing aside as that was mystical.

How could Buffy and Angel have a child? And I'm not adressing the whole Dawn thing..because that would also be mystical. I'm just saying that if time hadn't been reversed, no I don't think Angel and Buffy would have procreated.

But wasn't Angel fully human in "I Will Remember You"? That's why there's speculation about this event, not other times like in S2.

I saw an amusing pic from a magazine with an interview with Sarah but cant for the life of me find it. However it was talking about how they got complaints about no clear sign of a condom in "Innocence" and Sarah said, in a delightfully Valley way "Hello, he's two hundred and fifty years old! He shoots blanks."

Ok I haven't watched that eppy in a while...and that may be exactly right. But did he become human? I suppose he did..I just don't remember them actually saying it..probably did though!

He became human because that demon's blood missed with his own and the demon's blood had healing properties.
He was only human for a day because he asked those PTB assistants to turn back time so he'd stay a vampire to help out in the battle against evil 'cause Buffy would be the first to die in the final battle.

I thought the monks said that they create Dawn using Buffy's body. I think I remember that monk that Glory tortured saying that... Something about giving it life and sending it to the Slayer.

good information i'd forgotten about this episode
I like the theory that Dawn is the child that could have been Buffy and Angel's daughter, but I don't think the Dawn in the Buffyverse reality is. Dawn in the real time zone was a source of energy that took form with the help of Buffy's blood.

I think that Angel could have gotten Buffy pregnant, if he's human. In I Will Remember You, Angel was completely human, he had all the human weaknesses and strengths. I think the Fates would be slightly cruel in giving him the ability to be human but taking away his ability to have children.

Yes yes I know the episode well...I just couldn't remember if they actually SAID human. I mean I know we saw him in the sun, and his heart was beating etc..but Cordy also had all those capabilities and she was part demon. That's all I meant..I just couldn't remember if they actually said Human...but I'm sure they did and it's just me being really forgetful. 😀

Here's what's said in the episode:

Doyle: "He's alive, Cordelia."
Cordy: "Alive?"
Angel: "Buffy and I were attacked by some kind of demon. I- I tracked it - and killed it (Holds out his right hand) A-and some of its blood mixed with mine."
Doyle laying two fingers on his wrist: "And you wound up with a pulse?"
Angel: "I want to find out what kind of a demon that was. Ow, my back. It hurts. Everything's.."
Doyle: "More real, now that you're real?"
Angel: "Yeah. I'm mortal now. I have a mortal body.

Man: "From this day, you will live and die as any mortal man."

Buffy gets up: "You know it's a good thing I didn't fantasize about you turning human only about 10 zillion times, because today would have been a real let down. - So how does the mature plan go? You call me? I call you? What?"

Doyle: "Yeah, but you're human now. They released you."

It could go either way. Doyle and Buffy refer to Angel as being human but the Oracles refer to Angel as mortal. They also refer to Buffy as mortal, and she's hardly completely human. The only reason I think Angel is actually human is because of the way he reacts to the sight and smell of blood. He appears to have all the human weaknesses 🙂

I don't think that Dawn came from the events in 'I will remember you'. If she had, I think that that would have been explained somehow.

You're right...they DON'T in fact ever state he's human...at least not from any reliable source. But I do think it's implied..just never explicitly stated as fact. Thanks hon!

Hmmm its an interesting thought a bangel baby....The dawn thing is a little creepy to think about but i mean it could be true as well... If you really thought deep about it...

if you think about this way too long, then it does kinda make sense. both of them were human, so it could've happened. we've all taken biology. a child may have been created that day, but time was rewound and the day didn't happen, but dawn had to come from somewhere, right?
the events of 'i will remember you' obviously played out in another reality, one where this baby may have been born. it's been stated in BTVS that dawn is made of buffy's blood, isn't it possible that the monks went into the future of that other reality and plucked out a 14 year old dawn, making the key into this child?
i've thought about this WAY too much...
