So I did a paper on Buffy for my Women's Studies class, and I am giving a presentation on it tomorrow. I'd thought I'd share it with you guys, so here it is:

I'm gonna talk a lot about what Buffy is about and how it is praised and critiqued as a feminist show. What do you guys think?

God job!

Buffy is one of the best shows that conveyed a positive and pro feminist stance.

I haven't seen a show that has empowered women as well since...

Very Nice. Good Luck for your presentation. Why did choose this topic for a presentation? (Just let the point out of view that you're a big BTVS fan!)

The presentation went really well! I plugged Buffy a lot, got kinda nerdy, and I'm proud!

I wanted to do something with Buffy and feminism, but I thought it'd be too easy to just say, "Buffy is a great feminist show." I know the discussion on Buffy as feminist has been a heated and passionately discussed topic on BB. So, I thought I talked about how the established patriarchy of western culture still tries to assume control over a woman who clearly has more power then them. It was a lot of fun! And getting to use the mini-speech that Buffy gives the council at the end of Checkpoint was exactly what I wanted to use. It summed up everything I was trying to say: All these men were trying to control Buffy because they knew she had the power, and it bothered them.
