Buffy Screening at the Paley Center for Media!

Hi all, :cheering:

On Friday night the New York Paley Center held a screening of "Once More, With Feeling," along with a screening of the Buffy Reunion panel discussion held at the Los Angeles Paley Center in March. A couple of friends of mine, and myself, went - it was fun!

Matt Roush, from TV Guide, moderated the panel. In attendance were Joss Whedon, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nick Brendan, James Marsters, Emma Caulfield, Charisma Carpenter, Seth Green, Amber Benson, Marti Noxon, and David Greenwalt. The only major cast members who weren't there were Alyson Hannigan (probably due to her sitcom schedule) and Tony Head. :-(

Seth Green was particularly hilarious. My favorite part, however, was when Matt Roush mentioned that TV Guide (or some other media outlet) had rated the Buffy/Spike sex scene from "Smashed" as the hottest on television and James Marsters shouted: "Take that, Angel!!" Haha!! I'm personally a Bangel, but I thought that was funny. :: vampire

If you are in either Los Angeles or New York, you can visit the Paley Center's library and view the panel. I believe they also have an Angel Reunion panel in their archives, available for viewing. 🙂

Neat post! Thanks for letting us know. I didn't know about the New York one at all.
i tried to go, they sent out an email so late, like wed. tried to get a friend to come but he couldn't make it and I didn't want to go alone. Plus, $10. and im not working right now. So every $10 counts lol.

I miss the sing-a-long though. it was so much fun. i hope it gets reinstated eventually 🙁

I think a bunch of members of the Sing-A-Long were there because there were people singing (very loudly) and they kept on adding in lines of dialogue (i.e. "Shut up, Dawn!"), and quoting dialogue along with the movie, and there were a few times when they did special things like during the "mustard" part the whole front row got up and held dry cleaned shirts in the air and acted out the part, and also they handed out fangs during "Rest in Peace." Truth be told, it was kind of annoying actually. I had a friend with me who had never seen Buffy before and I convinced her to come, and I wanted her to experience it the way all of us did when we first watched it on TV or DVD.

I'm jealous. I wish I could have been there. The "Take that, Angel!" part sounds like it was hilarious. Angel always does seem to win those TV Guide lists. Leaves the poor Spuffies feeling unappreciated.
 
Yeah, when they used to do the Buffy Sing-a-longs very often before Evil Fox came down on them all, they always used to be very Rocky-Horrorish. But you know...child-friendly. Mostly. Well way more child-friendly than Rocky Horror, haha.
 
um, ive been to the musical. thats what they do. since they aren't "allowed" to do it, they were just improvising with certain parts (IE the fangs during rest in peace... they made us sing with them and it was fun). what did you expect? the sing along people were the ones who sent out the email and said the ywere the ones helping to put the screening together.

LMLTF, I found out about this event not from a Sing-A-Long posting/email, but because I get e-mail updates from the Paley Center. I'm always checking out the Paley's panel events, as they pertain to the industry I work in. (Sidenote to anyone reading, I used to work at the Paley Center when it was called the Museum of Television & Radio - it's a great place and I highly recommend checking out some of their other great Television Panels if you're in either NY or LA.)

Second, I hadn't heard that the Sing-A-Long people had anything to do with getting the Paley Center to put on this event. They weren't listed in any of the blurbs that went out about this event. Perhaps they called the center to ask for it, but I doubt they organized it. If I'm wrong, okay - I can accept that I'm wrong.

Third, my point was that this was not advertised as a Sing-A-Long. As such, I had brought along a friend who had never seen an episode of Buffy before. I really had wanted her to experience the episode the way it was meant to be experienced, so that she could take away the same experience from it that each of us had while watching it for the first time on TV or DVD. Unfortunately, her experience was distracted by the sing-a-long members. I'm not saying that a Buffy Sing-A-Long is a bad thing - it's probably a lot of fun in fact, and something I would probably buy a ticket to see. I just didn't feel this was the appropriate venue for it.

We're all allowed a right to our opinions though.

actually VampsWithSouls, i want to apologize for the way that post came off. i was drunk last night (courtesy of my brother) and probably should stay away from forums when i am indeed inebriated. So sorry for the snarky-ness.*hides in embarrassment*

You see how alcohol affects lives?!?!!? LOL, just teasing. It's no problem. At first I thought, gee, LMLTF really does like to fight! lol. But hey, I understand. Beer bad! LMLTF good! 🙂
