If you happen to be one of us who believes it's canon if Joss writes it, this is big news. His quote unquote canon comic telling us what happens after Chosen gets a promised October release date.

Whedon Pens New Buffy Comic

Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon is writing a new six-issue Buffy mini-series for Dark Horse Comics. The first volume is due out in October. A Dark Horse spokesperson has confirmed to ICv2 that the new series chronicles events that happened to Buffy and her friends after the conclusion of their televised adventures and will function as a "Season 8" to the highly popular cult hit TV series that ran for seven seasons (see "Buffy Returns").



Even though the WB aired the final episode of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series three years ago (May 20th, 2003), reruns have extended the life of the popular property, which still supports a wide array of tie-in products including action figures from Diamond Select Toys, trading cards from Inkworks, and Cine-Manga from Tokyopop (see "Tokyopop's 'Buffy' Cine-Manga").

Thats Excellent!!! I have been dieing to know when this was going to be released, and October is only 5 months away!!
 
Definately canon, as far as I'm concerned. The format is beside the point. As long as it's Joss doing the writing then it's the real deal Buffyverse.

I'm really looking forward to these comics. Hopefully they will be successful to keep running for a good long time. Any of us here with friends who enjoy comic books have a duty to get the message out and get them buying this series. 😉

Now if only IDW will give up the Angel license so that Dark Horse can start a canon Angel series set after Not Fade Away.
 
For some reason, Buffy with the Immortal in Italy doesn't sound very interesting to me. But Joss could make pocket lint seem interesting, so...
 
I got the impression that Buffy being with the Immortal in Paris was more about where we would initially find her rather than the basis of the actual story.

Either way, as goldenboy said, Joss isn't going to let us down.
 
This might be a time I will actually read the comics! It's exciting that Joss is writing it.

Fingers crossed, but I don't see it happening. More's the pity.
 
It's better then nothing!! If they were willing to do it, in those little comic strips in the newspaper, the ones with like 3 frame's, I'd take it!!
