Buffy season 9 cartoon?

So they made season 8 a comic...which is great. I love it, but would you enjoy it more if it could be a cartoon? Something you could watch? If SMG didn't want to do it they could use the girls voice in the video game (chaos bleeds) and what not. She sounded like Buffy to me. I don't know, it probably wouldn't fly, but I am sure that fans, like me, would support it, cause it cannot be worse than a comic book. No, I am not dissing comics, cause I love them, I'm just saying. I miss seeing it, watching it. And hey, they wouldn't have to worry about hard stunts and long days work, minus the drawing parts, and doing the voices, because well, they can draw the fights. That has to be easier, lol. What do you think? Would you rather have comic form, or cartoon??
 
a cartoon, because then:

1. we wouldnt have to wait for ages between each one.
2. It'd be easier for people to get it in other countries that dont sell comics (like the one im in) with torrents, file sharing, youtube.
3. They wouldnt have to use the old actors voices.
4. they wouldn't have to pay heaps and heaps of money for stunts/visual effects.

What are some other pros?
 
One thing I never understood about the Buffy Animated thing they were actually doing was how much of if actually exists somewhere.

As I understood it Joss and Jeph Loeb were doing it. Hannigan, Brendon, and Head were supplying voices. The girl who supplied the voice from Chaos Bleeds was doing Buffy's voice. It took place in the school days, and was kind of an alternate reality thing, because Dawn was going to be in there too.

The art is still scattered around the internet if someone wanted to do a search.

As I recall it was going to be a ten minute proof of concept kind of thing. For some reason I got the impression it was actually completed. Wouldn't be something if that all of sudden appeared on YouTube right around Christmas. :santa2:
 
I am not really hip to the animation stuff but I would love to see it done like the movies, ice age, or monster house. I love the new animation.
I wonder if 2002 was too early? I definitely get what he said about time slots because I was thinking the same thing. Too much sex and violence for the kiddies, and as Buffy fans, we want the s...violence. But would it work on prime time...who knows. The only shot you've got is, to take it!
 
A cartoon would be cool but ofcourse the problem is coming up with people to help produce it and a network that would run it. But cartoons are expensive to do.

I would just say instead of it being a series, making a couple of "season 9" animated movies that are direct to dvd since they could make good money there and we could see how well the animated movie sells.
 
That's actually a great idea. I would def spend the money to buy it. Of course I would. And maybe then the cast wouldn't mind coming together once in a while to do the voice work. But I would of course like to have a weekly episode. I'm greedy, lol.
 
I really would enjoy a new cartoon, even if I had to buy a dvd. It would be pretty cool. Hopefully they could get most of the actors to do voices.
 
I'd like an animated series. An hour long one, though. And not starting with season nine canon. Season eight. You can't have seven seasons of a live action TV show and then switch to comic only form for the eighth and then to a cartoon.

I think it would be cool to see, if they did it right.

But I'd rather just have a live action show if they had to bring it back period.
 
I don't think I like the idea of a Buffy cartoon, nor did I really ever like that idea when I first heard about it a while ago. The reason I don't like the idea of a Buffy cartoon is because it'd be catered toward child so A LOT of the things would be watered down, like of course there wouldn't be the sex scenes, blood, probably no decapitation, and a lot of other stuff, which to me would make it a completely different show.
 
There are a lot of cartoons that aren't meant for children, especially on Fox (Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill, etc.). Not to mention anime. I think the animation would need to be a little "harder" though, like in the comic. The pics I've seen of what they were talking about doing before is a little kiddie. It reminds me of the Sabrina the Teenage Witch cartoon.

I'd like to see it happen, though I'm not holding my breath. I agree with Randy Giles that it would be a little weird to jump from live-action series, to comic, to animated series, but I think that's just because I'm anal about stuff. If they really wanted to do a season nine cartoon, I really wouldn't complain. :silly: But like I said, no breath-holding.

Oh, I also wanted to add that I'm a little surprised they were considering going back to the earlier years and putting Dawn in the mix, considering the poor reception she received from fans.

I was just looking at the site mogwaid posted, and it mentions something about "leaning toward the style of Batman: The Animated Series," which I love. The animation is similar in styling, so I can see now how that would work after all. However, it also says that Eric Wight, who drew that concept art, was "let go" because the series didn't get picked up. So there's no guarantee that he would be doing the artwork anyway.

So my guess would be, if this was ever to be done (which I doubt anyway), it would be entirely different from what they were originally talking about doing, with different writers and different artists contributing.
 
I'm kind of glad the animated series never went ahead - i just can't see the point in going back to the past. (plus, well, no Spike, i mean how could they contimplate something with no Spike!)

I like the idea of an animated movie though - not aimed at children though.

I almost said something about not having Spike, but I figure someone would jump down my throat and tell me they'd work him in there. :-P Way to have the stones!
