Buffy Should Have Been Naked

I just realized that when the First manifested as Buffy, she should have been naked. The First was trying to distract Buffy and disorient Spike, so wouldn't the better strategy have been nudity?

Thoughts?
 
As attractive an image as that presents, I'm almost certain that Sarah would have nixed the idea. The closest that she ever came to nudity on the show was an occasional bare shoulder. I honestly don't think that she was comfortable with it at that time, though she has recently, for whatever reason, relented and said that she would "consider a topless scene if it was required for a particular role." And as far as Spike is concerned, a naked Buffy would have done just the opposite of disorienting him. It would have gotten him fully focused and totally motivated.

Plus, of course, there is the fact that Buffy was aired in what is considered "family time," and the censors would almost certainly not allowed a scene like that to be used. Granted, James had on several occasions appeared wearing only his famous sock, and Angel had popped back from hell wearing nothing but dirt and blood, but there was never anything more than a brief flash of skin, whereas Buffy/First Evil would have had to remain nude and visible for more than just a few seconds at a time to be convincing.

I don't really see how it would distract Buffy? It's her body, it's not like she'd have to look...
And most of the time the First as Buffy only appeared to Buffy and/or Spike. It might have turned Spike into the First's willing slave :lmao:
 
I'd say Angel would be better than a naked Buffy for this purpose. Sure I'd rather see Buffy naked than Angel (hopefully with clothes). But as far as your theory goes I don't think naked Buffy had made much sense.
 
1) Waxed or not?
2) Buffy!First to disturb Buffy: fat or pregnant with some demon spawn
3) The First tried several images in order to control Spike, those that worked were of the persons that truly influenced his life: Buffy, Drusilla and his mother. For the first two see point 1), for the third...nobody is that disturbed.
 
Honestly Spike should have been naked. That would have distracted Buffy enough. And if he was clueless to why he was naked, it could have been very disorienting. Yes yes indeed, it should have been Spike.
As for your theory, no I'm not quite fond of that idea. I don't think it would have worked very well 😛
 
That would give new meaning to this situation:
When Giles and Xander saw the picture of what the mayor would become after the ascension. Of course if they had turned the book upright!
Or maybe Xander would have unwrapped his present before Buffy became a rat.
 
My first thought is that a naked Buffy would remind Spike too much of all that happened between them in S6, including the attempted rape in "Seeing Red". I don't think that would distract him into becoming the First's willing slave as much as it would move him back towards the despair from "Beneath You". And honestly, at that point he wasn't much of use to anyone. (Except to Joss. Broken Spike was heartbreaking to watch.)
 
I don't think Buffy seeing The First as her, naked, would have been distracting, though i agree with what has been said above that in may have influenced Spike, since he was already under The First's control, in a fashion.

It would have helped the First. If Spike hadn't manned up into becoming Buffy's Champion, she would have lost the battle against The First... badly.
