SARAH Michelle Gellar has vowed to pick up some Aussie designer fashion when she hits Sydney this week.
Perhaps best known for starring in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the American actor is due here over the coming days as an ambassador for Specsavers.
“As lame as I am, I will probably just shop,” she said, singling out Alex Perry and Collette Dinnigan as local labels she likes.
“Some of the greatest stuff comes out of Australia and Sydney in particular. It was always the first thing I do when I get there, to hit all the shops.”
Gellar, 37, celebrated the start of the year 2000 at the Sydney Opera House and filmed Scooby-Doo on the Gold Coast.
Instead of acting, this time the mother of two is spruiking glasses.
“At first they really wanted me to be the spectacle of the year and I was a bit concerned about that,” joked Gellar, who is married to Freddie Prinze Junior.
“I have worn glasses for many more years than I care to admit because it might give away my age. It is one of those things I feel is an extension of me, like a doctor prescribed reason to accessorise.”
While here, Gellar will be one of the judges of the annual Specsavers Spectacle of the Year competition with entries now open via re now loveglasses.specsavers.com.au.
