Buffy Suicide Attempt?

Whatever, so your saying Spike (who she dislikes) can stop her from killing herself with a few words, dont think so. If she wanted to die she would of done it another way. She wanted to feel alive to fit in not die.

She didn't dislike Spike, and sometimes all it needs is a few words. It's not like she planned on killing herself, I just think that if she came close/ knew she was about to die, it wouldn't matter to her.

I agree that she wouldnt care if she dies
i dont think she was trying to kill herself. They said earlier in the episode that when the emotions became to to much they would burst into flames so i dont think she could help it. But It if it WAS an attempt to kill herself then it was spike who saved her because he told her to go on living

I think that Buffy was trying to kill herself. A lot of people said that they thought she was just giving up, but I think she really wanted to die. Buffy seemed really suicidal all of the sixth season, even some of the late fifth season.

I thought at first that she wasn't trying to commit suicide...but some of you got me rethinking my original stance. Just the look on her face when she's singing "Give me something to sing about" and the words themselves...like she doesn't have something to sing about. It is unclear, and as we see, open to interpretation. Everyone has made good points so far!

I think at that point she was hitting bottom, knowing she was in heaven and her friends pulled her out of it and not being able to say. She saw everything falling around her and didn't see the point in it all, her songs throughout the episode shed light on what shes actually thinking and how she is torn between fighting and nothingness. To be her dancing was in essence her giving up and succumbing to the burn, so to speak until spike gave her a reason to live and a little meaning in her life
