It's my opinion Buffy doesn't get enough love around here. I thought I'd get this thread kicking with a couple fun little Buffy appreciation videos I found online today:

She's got superpowers (sw) But no, that's not the main reason why I like Buffy, lol. She makes good use of language! That's probably an even more stupid reason to like Buffy, but I'm really into languages, so her whole way of speaking has always fascinated me.

I love Buffy, and Sarah played her great, she is obviously what makes the show, hence being the main character ofc 😛

but i love her confidence, and her independence the most 🙂
 
Buffy isn't my favorite character, but I didn't realize how much I liked her until I started watching Angel. I mean, there's no Buffy!

I love her growth throughout the series. It just astounds me how much she has changed from S1 to S7, and I guess even S8. And like Kristine said above, Buffy's diction is perfect. She can be so witty! I never really considered Buffy booksmart, but she really does know how to speak.
 
Ah, Buffy. I love how fiercely loyal she is. I love her when she's funny, I love her when she cares for others, I also love her when she has the sense to look after herself.
 
Where I am there is a lot of Buffy love. Buffy is my hero. My all time favorite person. And I think nothing will change that. When they are talking about Buffy they say she was not the prettiest not the smartest person - but she was to me. I think I'll never forget her. Like Angel said "You made me the man I am today".. just instead of man I will put the girl 😀
 
I like the fact that she is not the smartest not the prettiest as SMG says(although i find her very smart and very pretty!) but she manages to kick ass in her own way!I love the fact that she supports the people she loves and she is not judgemental...i like the fact that she uses her irony and her kicks and punches against her enemies...i sometimes find common characteristics with Buffy...although in high school i was a bit of nerdy study girl...LOL!!!I am not like Willow though...i can find common characteristics with Buffy and i love her so much as a character!She evolves throughout the series and she learns to be a huge fighter,a hero and a better person!
 
Agreeing with PB here. She never backs down, never gives up. She is the true definition of a 'hero.' She's funny, pretty, super-powered, and smart as a tack.

I love Buffy because her character was relateable. Not the fighting demons part but everything else. I was 13/14 when I first starting watching and I felt so angsty. Buffy helped me to feel like I am not alone and I will always love her for that.

I know what you mean. Buffy is a big part of my life. It's kinda weird, how I love this person who really doesn't exist in real life, and she helped me so much.
 
Who's to say that the characters we love can't exist for us in "real life"? This is the power of fiction. Sure, they're not real, but the way we relate to them is very much a real thing. Am I making sense?
We love what we love because it makes us happy. Nothing wrong with that! 🙂

I totally know what you mean!!!! At this point, Buffy is a big part of my life, too; I post on here almost everyday, I collect Buffy stuff, I run a Whedon club at my college, I'm an Assistant Organizer on the Seattle Buffy Meetup Group, I re-watch the entire show (including Angel) every summer...

My obsession with the show borders on slightly unhealthy, I think. 😉

No way. There's a book called 'What Would Buffy Do", did you know that? Buffy is a strong individual who follows a strict moral compass and makes good choices (mostly). Why not follow her lead.

Well you have a lot of them. You have one that are based on the show and the ones that are not. Ones I like the most and the ones I would recomed are The Deathless, Halloween Rain, Blooded, The Burning: The Unseen Trilogy, Ring of Fire, Monster Island (that book was my first 😀) and I also like very much The Complete Slayer: An Unofficial and Unauthorized Guide to Every Episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (it has very intersting trivia on every episode of Buffy), Why Buffy Matters: The Art of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Slayer Slang: A Buffy the Vampire Slayer Lexicon. There are my favourites 😀

There are many excellent non-ficiton books on the series out there. A few, off the top of my head, that I've read and enjoyed are: Televised Morality, the Case for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Why Buffy Matters (a bit scattered but she makes some good points), Fighting the Forces, Sex and the Slayer, and Undead TV (an essay collection). Reading Angel, another essay collection, is really interesting as well. There's an excellent article in there comparing Angel to Batman. Good stuff.

You can get all these on Amazon for pretty cheap.

Though, the first book I mentioned (Televised Morality...) was pretty expensive for some reason. I think its no longer in print. It's basically some guy's published thesis for his PhD in Theology. It's really well-written. I'd highly reccommend it if you can afford it. If you're at all interested in the role of religion in the show, this is your book.
