Hmm...some of these I've seen on this board...lol...

I support #5!
I thought #3 was pretty much verified on the show? Was it not? How is that a fan theory?

When Buffy is killed by the Master, she’s brought back to life by Xander in a natural way. When Kendra dies, that calls Faith to the Slayer line. What this essentially means is that while Buffy is a Slayer, Faith is the Slayer, the one who possesses the lineage. This is why when Buffy dies again at the end of season 5, no new Slayer was called.

Where it gets tricky is when Willow uses magic to resurrect Buffy, which causes a split in the Slayer line. They’ve meddled with forces far beyond their control, ones that shouldn’t be meddled with, which leads to a big chance for evil to capitalise on it.

This means that the First Evil was able to come back in season 7, and attempt to wipe out the line of the chosen one, thanks to the irregularity caused by bringing Buffy back from the dead.
That's not a fan theory, it's a show fact.. that's what that floating eye thing said.

Yeah I agree that #3 isn't a fan theory. I'm surprised I'd never heard #7 before though. That seems like it should have come up here somewhere lol

No, I had never heard of #7 either. It's an interesting idea that the Hellmouth is actually a vamp factory mass producing them.

I sort of like the Dracula came to steal Buffy's blood so they could create Dawn one. Kind of gives that episode more purpose lol
I did too.. but like they said, the monks would have had to have acted fast. But that is very interesting as it makes Dracula almost an agent for good (which he sort of was anyway, as his goal was to help buffy)

I will always, always hate the Dawn theory. If, according to the article, Buffy was only able stand the spell because she was a Slayer, then why did Willow, Xander, Giles, Anya, Riley and all the other humans in Buffy's like not suffer some sort of side effect? I can maybe accept that Dawn's creation accelerated Joyce's illness, but I'll never be convinced that it was the sole cause of it.

I really do like the Dracula theory. It's canon that Buffy and Dawn share the same blood, so the monks had to get it from somewhere.

And didn't we have a thread a few years ago about River actually being a Slayer? I liked that theory. Even if Fray means it's not solid.

And, Buffy being the reason the First struck is completely canon, there's no theory needed for that, it was in the actual show.

I know.. I saw #5 and my heart went out to you.. lol
Yes we did have a thread about River being a Slayer 🙂

Someone needs to add one about a link between Seth McFarlane's Ted and Joss Whedon's Ted 😀

Or Smile Time.. that might be a better fit. I can see those bad puppets from Smile Time partying down with Ted. Plus then..
Not sure about the vampire Hellmouth breeding thing. But then again the specifics about vampires are vague. I do think Dawn has something to do with Joyce's brain Arianism. Whether the direct cause or speeding it up.

I think the Dracula thing is plausible. It could it into canon. Where did the Monks get Buffy's blood from. Perhaps her blood was the last thing they needed for the spell, it makes sense with Dawn just showing up at the end.

Uh, I've heard way worse on these boards. 😉

I really like the Dracula one and The First was caused by Buffy's resurrection was actually said by Beljoxier's Eye, and then repeated by Giles.

I always thought the one about Dawn causing Joyce's death was factually disproven on the show. When Joyce gets sick Buffy does that meditation spell to see spells and their effects- so she would''ve seen the spell physically affecting Joyce in order to make her sick (even if that wasn't the spells intent, it would've show some sort of effect). But Buffy saw nothing. Canonically disproved.

It's the Walking Dead explanation for vamps!😀

It's become quite common to portray Dracula as an ambiguous character, living more by his own set of rules than what society considers either good or evil, so having him collect blood from Buffy for the monks to use in making Dawn would seem feasible.

Maybe the Hellmouth is where the first vampires as we know them (probably the victims of ubervamps) were created, which would make it like an ancestral home for them, and all vampires have an instinctual urge to return there.

Well, at least one group would disagree - The Key is the link - the link must be severed. He can keep his evil cred, and take the blood.

It seems to me vamps were primeval ooze according to Illyria. Still - it could be. Location, location, location😛

I think I've read all of these before. Maybe even this exact link.

The one that grasped me the most was #2. That's clever. And it makes a somewhat terrible episode a bit more watchable given this way of thinking.

I do quite enjoy reading fan theories, on the boards especially.
