I was in concert band for 12 years, so I think if you have that kind of background, you might notice symphonic music more. Even before I had any of the albums, the pieces that stood out to me the most were the tracks from The Gift, Chosen, and Hero (ATS season 1).
Stupid enter button didn't let me finish what i was saying. 🙂 I agree that being in band and the background it provides makes scores stand out more. I notice them more in tv shows and movies, because of it.
That makes sense about being in band making you notice music more. I love music, but my favorite instrument is the human voice (especially the male human voice), so pieces that are purely instrumental usually just fall below my radar.
