1. Buffy's Dream
Buffy Summers (high school aged) arrives at the burning apartment building. She has to bust open the front door with a front kick. When she is inside she goes for the first open door. Two vampires are feeding off of a man on the sofa. They sense her presence. The female runs deeper into the suite, while the male hisses "Slayer!" There is a quick fight, and Buffy stakes the vamp in the heart. His body crumbles, as dust.
A child screams from a room in the suite. She finds him, sitting on his bed. He's been bitten. "She bit me," he says, rubbing the wound.
"Where did she go?" Buffy's question is answered by the vampire jumping onto her back. Buffy struggles, momentarily, before pushing back, crushing the vampire between her own slayer strength and the wall. She then turns around and drives the stake into the vampire's heart and the vampire dusts. Buffy tells the boy, "We've got to get you out of here, let's go."
In the hall, in front of the stairs, Buffy looks up to the second floor and sees a man in all black and a cape. She gets a cramp. The boy asks, "Am I going to turn into a vampire?"
"What?"
"I've seen movies. And, when a vampire bites you, you turn into a vampire. It's the same as with werewolves and zombies."
"Well, in the real world, when a vampire bites you, you have to drink their blood after it drinks yours in order to turn into one."
"Are you going up there?"
"I have to."
Buffy goes up the stairs. One woman who is in the crowd going down grabs her arm and says, "Where are you going? You've got to get out of here!" Buffy shakes herself free of the woman's grip and keeps moving. When she gets to the second floor, Buffy stops and looks around. She is tackled by a female vampire and the two go through a door into a vacant one bedroom apartment.
Once both are on their feet, the female says, "Lead her to the roof, he said. But, I just can't help myself."
Buffy asks. "Who told you to lead me to the roof?"
"It doesn't matter now." The two fight. It's a pretty even fight. The female is good, maybe too good. As they are fighting, a support beam falls, blocking the door back to the hallway. The vampire throws Buffy up against the support beam and then charges at her. Buffy rolls out of the way, and the vampire ends up on top of the support beam.
Buffy pulls the vampire up by her hair. "Guess you should have gone hungry." She stakes the vamp from behind. Buffy tries to open the window, but can't. She looks at the support beam and then decides that she has to move it. She wraps her arms around it, and then throws it over her shoulder. Then, she searches for a way onto the roof.
She goes up several flights of stairs, her foot breaking through one step on the way up, before reaching the 4th floor. She finds a door marked, "Roof Access," and opens it. She goes up onto the roof. When she gets there, the man in the cape is standing on the edge, looking down at all of the people. Buffy comes closer, and raises her stake.
"You don't want to attack me," the man says. "Lower your weapon."
Buffy does as the man says.
"Very good."
Buffy asks, "Who are you?"
The man turns around. "My name is Lothos. And, you are The Slayer."
"How do you know I'm The Slayer?"
Lothos smiles. "Because I am your destiny." He is closer to her now. He can smell her warm blood. Once behind her, he vamps, and says, "You cannot resist me." He sinks his teeth into her neck, and starts to drink. As he drinks from her, Buffy goes weak. She drops her stake, and loses the strength that is keeping her body up. He catches her when she can no longer stand. When he's done, he carries her to the edge of the rooftop and then let's her body roll out of his arms. It lands hard next to the boy that she saved.
