Buffy Theme Song from Season 1 and 2

I was just wondering why is it that the theme song to Buffy was different in the first two seasons. I heard something about why they changed it in the commentary but I still don't know the whole story. And did you guys like the old version or do you prefer the theme from season 3 onwards?

I think it was only quickly recorded for season 1, because Nerf Herder(?) didn't have the time to do a proper recording then in season 3 they eventually got around to doing a proper recording!

I thought it was something like they wanted a "thicker" sound. Tougher, meatier drums.

I generally love crude, messy recordings. I think I like the original version, just a little more"”even though the drums sound a little tinny. I like the original's drum rolls...more urgency all around with that version.

I like the second version of the Buffy theme but I agree with you about the drum rolls of the first version. They are pretty tight especially around the middle of the song.
