OK, so maybe the subject heading is a tad misleading, but my question is: After the series comes to an end, is the franchise strong enough to support another big-screen offering? Other than laying the groundwork for the series, I think it's pretty much safe to assume the movie blew. But with returning cast members, a decent plot, a bigger budget, and maybe some cameos thrown in, could the franchise continue (ala "Trek:TNG")?
All opinions are welcome.

Off course, they should release a movie after they end both series, like one last big apocalyptic movie, in which the whole stories comes to end. (Just like with Evangelion)!

i tihnk there should be a movie but i'm not sure how it would work especially as Sarah Michelle Gellar doen't believe that a movie should be made and won't sign on for one.

I read the article where SMG said she doesn't believe another movie should be made...she said that she felt like it had taken forever for them to step out of the shadow of the movie, and be taken seriously...but again, it's a hypothetical question, and we're assuming SMG is talked into doing it.

That'd be sweet. Even more so because i love Eva.

Well the Eva-movie added a lot to the series, was really amazing! ... For those who have been left clueless, Neon Genesis Evangelion is a Japanese Anime-Series of which, after it ended, a movie was released. It had a huge apocalyptic feeling and left you, after watching it, on the couch speechless over the next ... say hour, made a really big impressions and I 'm sure that Joss could do something like that and if he succeeds I swear .... You'll love it!

I think if they don't do a movie, it should be a 2 hour series finale with both casts in it and end with the death of the slayer. Then focus on Dawn who will be the next slayer, and end there. No Next Generation Slayer series should follow.

No, not Dawn. It's should be a real movies, released in theaters, 180 minutes non-stop B/A! ... It should end there and possible if they feel like it, a new spin-off from a next generation slayer; Fray ... in her comics it is pointed out that Buffy was the last slayer, and she's from, I believe, 2400!!!

Maybe he'll die too. Maybe Buffy won't die, but will return to the reality of "Normal Again" ... although it would look as if she died!

But could there really be a movie??? Even if Buffy and Angel end, Buffy may have a spinoff... So the story wouldn't really end... And I think if this is really Buffy's last season, I think it would be neat if it ended with Buffy and Angel together... Like combining the shows or something for the end...

I don't think a movie would work. BTVS has a fan base that disregarded the dreadful movie, took a chance, and became devoted. If you talk to fellow fans, most of us have been here since the beginning. One of the main complaints of BTVS, by critics and my friends alike, is that if you haven't followed the series you lose alot of the in-jokes and character insights. To make a sucessful movie, per hollywood standards, you must be accessible to a larger group, which leads to more $$$. So, another movie version would have to be generalized and really explain the Buffy basics..perhaps even start at an early time frame. Therefore, I don't think it would be sucessful..because it would bore the real fans and perhaps turn off non-fans expecting a cheesy re-make of the original.

You've got a point, but they could change it into a TV-movie, like 3 hrs straight non-stop B/A, and after that never again!

I don't think they'll go for a look-a-like, because the fans (we) wouldn't like it! Without the stars, there will be no movie at all!

but what about the networks ? how would they do a tv-movie and show it if there are different networks unless the executives or what ever decide to show it on both networks

Sorry I've never seen her stunt-double, do you have a picture? Hmm, the networks again, c'mon why don't these big chiefs get over themselves and their money, think about the quality of the products!

AllyCat if you can get your hands on the watcher's guide vol.1 in the back of the book there is a pic of SMG and her SD her stunt double's name is Sophia Crawford i think it said she use to be one of the Pink rangers from power rangers i don't know i never did watch power rangers so but you'll have to check it out if i had a scaner i'd scan the pic but i don't sorry

Hmm I've seen some episode (it s*cks), but there have been 5 or 6 different series with different pink rangers, but I'll look into it thank you!
