Never liked Tara - don’t see what the fuss is about.
Anya’s character was much better BEFORE she got together with Xander and I hated their relationship.
Willows magical ‘drug’ metaphor storyline was awful and cringeworthy at best.
I think the yellow crayon speech is lame.
Besides a rare episode here and there, I don’t like season 5 or season 6.
I’m not sure if this is unpopular or not but while I’m venting the things I don’t like haha; don’t like Andrew, never found him funny and I don’t feel sorry for him no matter what way they twisted it. As an audience, I would have preferred to have seen Jonathon since he’s been a part of the show since the start.
I’m sure there’s more but I can’t really think of anything else right now.

Nice point about Anya! Never thought of it that way, and it is definitely fitting.
100% agree about Andrew/Jonathan. Rewatching S7 actually made me hate Andrew more. On top of being kind of a terrible person through S7, he's super annoying.

I don't think the scene at the end of Empty Places is uncalled for. I think it's completely reasonable that the group would not want to go back into a place to fight after being beaten so badly. Was Buffy right in her assumption about the vinyard? Yes. Did the team have any way of knowing that? No. They were running off fear. Makes people do the wacky.
I think Dead Man's Party is justified too, actually!

Empty spaces was necessary and I am sad for saying it but so true!
Buffy is not close to being a favorite character, as I find her kind of whiny. I'm not talking about when she's actually upset and dealing with serious stuff or trauma, etc, I just mean her day to day personality grates on me a bit.
I like Xander and he might even be my favorite character in the early seasons (maybe not in S1). I can't stand the more misogynistic and jealous aspects of him, but he's ultimately a good person and a very realistic teen/young adult.
Giles was completely in the right and Ben needed to be killed, regardless of whether he was an "innocent" (which I think is debatable). I also don't think he was out of line when he wanted to discuss Dawn's fate.
The Gift is a good episode but it really doesn't do anything for me, emotionally, and neither has the end of The Prom or even Chosen. I love Becoming but Angel's death never hit me either. I'm not sure why, because while I'm not a Bangel, but I still appreciate the ship and love the S2 arc.
I disagree with everyone kicking Buffy out, but Empty Places doesn't bother me nearly as much as it seems to bother everyone else.

I like Restless even less. It's a waste of an episode.
I never warm to Xander. I can see that he isn't as much of a douche as he was in s1-3, but I just never really like the character.

One more episode should have featured more of Tara in the story. I think she is less perfect then normal in a perfect way, demonstrate more of her dogged conviction (not narrow minded, judgemental, prejudiced like Riley, Xander, Foster)
Fred was the only Mary Sue, a big enough one for both series.
AtS had lots of light hearted moments, more should have been the gang not in a bar setting but mundane stuff like cooking and playing video games, enjoyed those.
Anne should have been a Angel series regular, Riley should have migrated too.
Buffy's S6 quarter life crisis story arc should have been S4, didn't feel like a enough f a departure from high school.
Buffy should have been sleeping with a newly chipped in Spike in S4 before the character was so neutered so it is truly sleeping with the enemy shocking.
Buffy should have dealt with dropping out of college, her mother dying and existential slayer and ancestral anxiety in same post high school season.

Empty Places is a great episode, so powerful and moving.
Season 6 is the best season. It's all about two strong women growing up and trying to figure out who they are and who they want to be

I love Never Kill a Boy On the First Date, Reptile Boy and Beer Bad and would rather watch those episodes than a lot of the acclaimed ones.
Dawn was one of the best things about the later seasons.
Despite the lack of direction for Angel’s character in season 1, I think the characterization works perfectly when looking at his whole arc and I love it!

I don't want to be preached at with the subtlety of a bat upside the head. Take Go Fish for example. I don't need the show to explain with blaring trumpets how the way Buffy was talked to in the principal's office is wrong (especially when I thought the subtle ways are just fine). If Buffy felt like a "very special episode of the week" too often then I'd have dropped it fast.
This is true even when I agree with whatever is being overtly preached (I've dropped series before because it got to be too much for me even though I was sympathetic to the message, but I just wasn't able to enjoy the story for its own sake). A character can be all preachy (and doesn't have to be a message I agree with, either), but it has to feel natural to the character, not like a mouthpiece for the writers.

- Spike should have been killed off at the end of season 6 or the Spuffy scenes shouldn't have happened in season 7.
- ''Reptile boy''and ''Bad Eggs'' aren't actually that bad and are fun episodes to rewatch.
- Hush is overrated and not that scary at all.
- Willow should have identified as bisexual (I need more representation).

I would've lost even more respect for Whedon if Xander was the one who went gay because it would be yet another example of that "guy who sexually harasses girls comes out" trope. Like Larry. Or Andrew. Don't have Xander continuously jeopardise his friendship with Buffy (spying on her as she changes clothes, saying people will think she's easy and talk behind her back if she kisses Owen, say he has sexual dreams about her and masturbates while thinking about her, "kick his ass") only for it to turn out he was just confused.
It annoys me that Cordelia gets praised in Dead Man's Party. She didn't care Buffy was gone for 3 months because she was not in Sunnydale herself for most of the summer, she was on vacation in Mexico.
It annoys me that Cordelia gets praised in Helpless for driving Buffy home. She only lived a couple of blocks away and it was clear she was crying and been attacked. No one thinks twice about Buffy spending hours every night walking throughout the town on patrol. It annoys me that Cordelia gets praised in Dead Man's Party. She didn't care Buffy was gone for 3 months because she was not in Sunnydale herself for most of the summer, she was on vacation in Mexico.
It annoys me that Cordelia gets praised in Helpless for driving Buffy home. She only lived a couple of blocks away and it was clear she was crying and been attacked. No one thinks twice about Buffy spending hours every night walking throughout the town on patrol. But I've read posts saying Cordy in this scene was "selfless" "feminist" "caring" "thoughtful" "sweet" "loyal"

Oz never did anything for me. Too much of a monotone wallflower impression sometimes. And he's not cool. I forget he's even there in half his scenes. In real life I'd find him uninteresting.
Faith is kind of a meh character to me. She's part of a lot of good episodes but I think the character is totally unattractive. She's radically insecure sexually. All the big talk about sex and her overtures she sends in every man's direction about it is just a way of trying to convince herself that she's attractive (which is so transparent and totally not hot). Everyone seems to think she's the hottest thing that ever walked in heels but I don't see what the fuss is about. Girls who watch the show seem to all want to be like her and look like her and it confuses me.
I love Dawn. And other than the way he chickened out and left, I always kind of liked Riley.
Although I'm a Bangel, I never felt Buffy loved Angel as much as he loved her.
On that note, I find a lot of Angel's brooding and eyes for Buffy from afar and from dark corners to be rather pathetic.
