1) Xander was punished for BB&B.
2) Joyce isn't a bad mother, she is a normal one.
3) Xander and Willow were great friends, and if Buffy didn't have them, I don't see her making any friends sadly. She's too closed off, and in a way tried to push Xander and Willow away, but they insisted on staying.

This is more a behind the scenes thing that might be unpopular....

I think Aly was lying when she said she didn't know BtVS was ending until she saw the cover of Entertainment Weekly.

That issue was March 2003. That's only 2 months before they stopped filming in May 2003. There is no way she went all that time, Lessons through whatever episode in late s7, and seriously thought it wasn't the final season.

1. S1 of Buffy is the weakest season.
2. S7 is much better than people give it credit for and The First as a BB are more effective than given credit for.
3. Amy should have been a member of the Scoobies in the first couple of seasons anyway.
4. Dawn's debut is one of the best of any on the show.
5. Oz is a little one note and empty as a character.
6. Joyce being a bad mother makes her a far more interesting character.
7. Kendra works as a guilty pleasure.

I like/agreed with everything except number 7 .

Maybe she was just mad the show was ending when she didn't want it to so blamed Joss & Sarah. Wasn't Aly making like $200k an episode?

I do wonder where she thought they were headed for future seasons (storylines, plans for the characters) considering s7 was being written as a final season. Maybe the way the Scoobies were being underwritten that year made her think, "This can't be the end. This isn't how things should end. This end sucks."

She didn't know HIMYM would be so successful and it premiered 2 1/2 years after BtVS ended. Outside of Willow, back then she was known mostly for "This one time at band camp" on American Pie.
 
I wasn't trying to be vulgar when I wrote the whole quote from American Pie. She says "this one time in band camp" a lot and it's the line revealing what she did with the flute that makes it memorable.

I think it would've been more interesting if Doc never told Spike he couldn't see a soul anywhere on him and then in Grave when Spike wins the trials to get back his soul the demon says he already had it.

It could turn out somehow he didn't lose his soul when he was sired and it was the influence of Angelus/Darla/Drusilla and being a vampire (demonic, bloodlust) that turned him evil.

And then he'd have a freebie wish just like Angel in AtS s2 when he won trials to get another life for Darla only for it to create Connor because Drusilla sired her.

He would have a crisis, realizing he was always still William. That he murdered thousands of innocent people with a soul fully intact. That he bloodied his way of thinking and tried to change his persona so thoroughly that he doesn't remember what it felt to have a working conscience.

He'd wrestle with whether he should use the wish to make Angel's soul permanent. That could be the BtVS s7 wish Whedon wanted since Buffy would NEVER rip someone out of Heaven and raise them from the dead so no Tara.

I agree. Works better with Spike being a special vampire that actually still held onto his humanity. Just like Buffy was one girl in all the world, Spike was one vampire in all the world that still maintained their humanity after becoming a soulless monster. It makes Buffy falling in love with Spike even more poetic.

I don't even know why I don't like the sound of Crazysoulless' idea. Maybe because it would dull my enjoyment of early seasons Spike to know he's doing it all while in full possession of a soul? I wonder if it would make rewatching a far more disturbing experience..?

It would make Spike MORE villainous knowing that he had a soul the whole time and enjoyed what he was doing. That would make him so much worse than Angelus. Having him a special vampire that held onto aspects of his humanity was a better way to go. Having a soul and take delight in doing everything he did would be truly psychopathic and beyond redemption, in my opinion.

Yes it would. Which would make any possible Spuffy storyline impossible, and if they chose to go ahead with it - extremely wrong on so many levels. So I guess it depends on whether this version would still include Spuffy or not.

I think it's also a question of the 'verse mythology - they'd have to explain why Spike had retained his soul when he was sired. If they gave him a successful redemption storyline it would still make him an Extra Special vampire.

My unpopular opinion is that Buffy should have loved Spike without a soul, and they shouldn't have done all the stupid get a soul stuff. Avoids all the pre-soul post-soul controversy and inconsistency.

Actually, my biggest unpopular opinion is that I hate Willow.

I think that's a very popular opinion. Certainly amongst more than a few people.

Buffy did love Spike without a soul though... she just didn't want to admit it and used the not having a soul as an excuse.

Buffy season 4 has the worst main "Villain" in the Buffyverse. Adam was so bad.

Adam was the worst villain. Who is the popular opinion? I can't think of anyone more boring then him!
 
After a lot of re-watch, I find Season 5 to be very boring and a lot of episodes felt more flat to me.

I completely hate the trio as the main villains os S6.

I love William and find he is a beautiful creature. I totally understand Dru for choosing him.

I believe the AR in S6 was not Spike's first raping and that he was a horrible vampire back in the day just like Angel.

I agree to an extent. I think Buffy should've either loved Spike as he was without a soul or she shouldn't have loved him at all. The notion that someone has to change a big part of themselves, one which they've had no issue with before, in order to be "acceptable" to be loved by another person doesn't sit right. It's almost like saying that someone who's had no issues with their body size, has to lose weight so that they are more "acceptable" for another person to love them.
