Buffy : Unpopular Opinions

Wrecked is significantly harder to watch than Dead Things or Seeing Red. Drugs and child abuse are pretty awful to sit through, and it's the episode I've seen the least times.
I don't agree, but I see your point. Alyson's performance is amazing but terrifying. Is she really so far gone that she cannot see how frightened Dawn is? I have been around drunk people as a child and I have been sad drunk many times, though not while taking care of minors.

Even though Willow is absolutely horrible, it is still awful to see her having to beg not to be left behind. When you have the two best actors on the show turning on all the feels, it stings.

The episode does have some amazing visuals and cinematography. Some of the most traumatising episodes of BtVS are technically amazing.

Alyson is definitely really good as always. And don't worry I don't lack sympathy for Willow in the episode. I can't stand to watch the begging scene either; it's heartbreaking and pathetic at the same time. But I've definitely been around plenty of drunk people in my young life too, and it's something I really struggle handling, so I mostly feel for Dawn and hate having to watch her go through everything.

It is easily the scene where I find it the hardest to be a Willow supporter.
Dawn, Tara, Kennedy, Riley, Connor, Jasmine, Nina & Groo are interesting characters. Okay maybe Riley & Nina aren't all that interesting but they're likable.

The potentials are not that bad. Okay, Annabelle ran away like a complete wimp, Chloe killed herself, We never actually met the real Eve before she was killed, Chao Ahn doesn't speak English, Rona has a bad attitude, Kennedy is bratty & rude but Molly was a doll (she shouldn't have died-ugh FUVK Caleb!), Violet is tolerable and sort of like a mix of Buffy & Willow which is cool, Amanda is awkward yet likable and would've been a perfect addition to the Scooby gang (again, why did the good potentials have to die?! I even liked Chloe too!) and none of the other potentials were even developed enough to really care about one way or another. In the comics, I like that there are so many other slayers that are developed more than the ones in Season 7.

Some things mentioned earlier in this thread...

Xander leaving Anya at the altar was definitely NOT the right thing to do. Even if he did have cold feet, it was just purely RUDE to leave Anya like that. How embarrassing for her? And he just dips like a coward?! I guess it does fit with his character anyway... but HE proposed to her- he should've at least had the balls to go through with it!!!

I also like (sometimes love) episodes considered to be the worst by many- I Robot You Jane, Teachers Pet, Go Fish, Beer Bad, Where the Wild Things Are ... I even like Inca Mummy Girl more than I used to. Bad Eggs is still probably the worst in my opinion. I hate how disjointed the Gorch vamps storyline is from the Bezoar demon.

Wrecked is also a great episode in my opinion; Same with Dead Things. I don't think the magic/drugs metaphor in Wrecked is ineffective. And Dead Things is an emotional trip/mind fuvk of an episode- why don't people like this one again?

I can give you the most unpopular opinion about Buffy ever:

The white Dress, Buffy wears in Prophecy Girls looks awful on her. It is something, that Drusilla could and should have worn, but not Buffy. It doesn`t flatter her figure, it isn`t her colour and she looks just old in it. It is the worst dress, she ever wears in seven seasons.

Go ahead and bite me ;-)

I saw you post this in the Spuffy section a while back and I couldn’t react and I was like:

(Umm source giphy)

But seriously. Could not disagree more. 🙂 The dress looks great on her. It’s iconic. I love the fact that it is white and representative of her innocence. It looks even better when she has her leather jacket and her cross bow. Classic Buffy.

-I couldn't stand Faith for most of BtVS- even the S7 Faith (though I liked her a bit better then.) She just grated on me and I was happy when Spike attacked her in defence of Buffy in Empty Places.

-I did not enjoy Tillow talk (sometimes it was cute, sometimes too much..)

-This is probably unpopular for Spuffies, but I didn't mind Briley or Bangel (it didn't upset me despite being a Spuffy.)

-I didn't feel a huge amount of sadness for Joyce's death. I felt incredibly bad for Buffy, and for the horrible unimaginable concept of losing a mother, but I didn't feel a great bereavement for the loss of Joyce specifically.

-Xander annoyed me at many points, most of all when he was presumptuous and uppity about who Buffy/Anya could sleep with/ crush on or that Buffy should try to win Riley back.

-I found Drusilla kind of boring sometimes.

-This sounds crazy, but I would have enjoyed seeing some sort of crush/relationship develop between Xander and a darker, tougher, pissed off Harmony rebounding from Spike.

Yes, Harmony plus Xander = Harder and I ship Harder!

This ^
One of the best example for Xander is Inca Mummy Girl imo. He's a complete hypocrite in this episode and nobody calls him on it.

@Ethan Reigns: IKR? Harder - I love that!

I agree with some of these. As a Spuffy I can admit I like Bangel & Briley. They were good & needed to be on the show.

Buffy Season 7 was the best season of the show. I loved it .

I like S7 a lot too, and to add on to this.. A lot of people see S1-3 the quintessential Buffy seasons, but when I rewatch the show a part of me can't wait to get past these seasons in particular(besides a handful of amazing episodes). I much prefer the S5-S7 arc of Buffy, when the characters are adults and the storylines are more mature and serious.

Omg I can't say this enough. I agree with this so much.
I love S5 - S7.
Not saying S1 - S3 aren't great but the last ones connect with a lot of real life issues & not just cause I love Spuffy do I prefer the last few.
I just think the tone of the last few seasons of Buffy makes it way more then just another teen show.
There's a lot of people who make fun of S1 who aren't Buffy fans cause of the time & to those people I would say to watch the later seasons.
